I guess if you're coming from a cultural environment where $8/hr is a lot of money, America's still a golden land of opportunity.

Some people die trying to reach the land of "golden opportunity" for that 8 bucks. All a matter of perspective.
She aint perfect, but she's my home.
Bad things happen everywhere my friends, and believe it or not, the USA isn't responsible for ALL of them.
Just quite a few.

I then went on to say that I felt a post like this was mostly hatorade against the USA, and generally speaking, hate comes from jealousy and/or ignorance..... You didn't say hate referring to the post you said " People usually hate for one (or both) of two reasons." So you said people only hate for jealousy or ignorance. Okay, then stop being ignorant by hating Al Qaeda. Stop hating pedophiles. You're being ignorant and jealous of pedophiles. A lot of people hate many things including you. I guess you are ignorant and jealous no?

Why do we turn a blindeye to what the rest of the world does? I don't care what the world does. Every country is equally evil. What country armed the Taliban? What country armed Sadam Hussein? Your friends in South America? Some of their facist governments were propped up by Regan and other US presidents. Do you know that the US funded the Taliban, which harbored Al Qaeda training grounds for 911 attackers that killed your relative? Do you know the US funded Saddam Hussein and turned Iraq into one of the most modern military powers in the Middle East? He used the same weapons to gas Kurds, and Iranians. A couple million Iranians died. I wonder why they want to build nukes...hmmm Do you know that the US recently just signed a 20 billion dollar weapon deal with Saudi Arabia, who denies women and gays human rights? When was the last time the US gave billions of dollars of weapons to a radical middle eastern regime? Do you know that much of the US AIDS money to Africa is money that goes to pharmaceutical companies that contribute to the campaigns of the government officials who sign? USA is the best country to live in if you are in it. But that doesn't mean we are the nicest country out there when it comes to dealing with other countries. US is a big member in the arms trade, selling weapons that are used to kill innocent people. Don't be naive and think the US is all good to the world. It is equally as bad if not more (i'm thinking nations that mind their own business) bad than any other country in the world. It doesn't mean you hate your country. It means you don't be a moron and act like your country is the best thing next to cheese cake. I like the USA to live in. But I wouldn't want to be an enemy of the USA, because the USA uses some filthy tactics and murder against their enemies...just as I wouldn't want to be an enemy of Russia. As for the question is it worth defending. No s***. If you live in a place, you are going to defend it so you won't die or get f***ed over.

I don't care what the world does. Every country is equally evil. Basically,so what are you going on about? The worst critics are usually the ones suckling from America's tit i would say. As for the question is it worth defending. No sh*t. If you live in a place, you are going to defend it so you won't die or get f**ked over. So you agree that this thread is pretty stupid then? My allegiance is to the GOOD PEOPLE of this country dude. Please dont be under the impression that many Americans dont know their country's sordid past and we're all just riding about on our high-horses galloping across green pastures without a care.America made my country's flag illegal in the 50's and public display of it was punishable by death or imprisonment trust me i know whats up. I see places like Iran holding candle light vigils for 9/11 victums while bush wants to go to war with them.I know whats going on in the world.

I agree it is pretty stupid. Why would you not defend where you live if it's being bombed?
At the same time, I'm not going to act like this is the best country out there. It's the best if you live here. It's just as bad if not worse than most countries if you happen not to live here.
When we look back at America 2000 years from now, assuming civilization still exists, we will see an imperialistic nation that caused much death and destruction in the world because of their quest for raw materials. This country is on the downfall of things. The reliance on foreign oil is way too high, and the refusal to develop nuclear power or invest money in alternative energy instead of putting robots on red planets, will eventually lead to the economic downfall of the country for a good while.

For some perspective on the question of whether $8/hr an hour is opportunity, try removing your head from your ass.
If all you made was $8/hr, your wife would be with someone else right now. And that's God's own Truth.

Now you got SOME of my point. I'd defend my family, my friends, therefore my country....making it "worth saving". The whole thread concept is retarded. Now let's attempt to revisit the "hate" concept. I was, with my discussion of hate stemming from ignorance or jealousy, referring to fakeass internat tough guy hate. REAL hate (a different phenomenon) should ONLY come from actual physical or emotional distress/pain placed on you or someone close to you by another person/group. Again my definition was referring to dumbass internet tough guy "hate". Understood? The kind that gets tossed around much to casually these days. The kind of crap that stops people talking and starts people ranting. Listening is a SKILL. Ranting is more of a disease....like diarrhea of the mouth. And when internet tough guy style "hate" takes over.....listening and coming to a real understanding is impossible. And it's ok to come to the understanding of agreement to disagree.....it just doesn't have to be mindless babble. @jewbird..........I'll remove my head from my ass, when you attach your brain to your spinal column. Plenty of 8$ an hour schmoes get great lives and wives. You just aint one of 'em.

Actually, $8/hr ain't that bad. I could definitely see myself living on that much wage in the U.S. - especially with no wife and no kid to support. It's more like people who make only 80 cents/hr - or less - who dream of coming to America for that $8/hr job at Wal-Mart, K-mart, Kroger, McDonald's, etc. Anyway, I mentioned before, in so many ways, that America's "sins" aren't any worse than those of other nations, relatively speaking. But, it's biggest flaw is that it tries to constantly downplay, rationalize, or justify it wrongdoings while exaggerating the flaws of other nations - all the while doing very little to compensate for its mistakes. That's my greatest beef with the U.S. and with most of its (white) people.

Well, America is the in fact the source of all the world's troubles, from when Adam and Eve bit the apple, to the fall of the Roman Empire, Black Plague, Stalin's murderous regime (yup U.S. supplied him with the rope to hang his prisoners), to Chernobyl (American sabotage) to the long marching of cold tired penguins (yup we force them to do it so that we can make a movie out of it and entertain our big fat selves in our ever expanding couches and flat screen tv's). Is there anything that Americans can never be blamed for?*
*that's a rhetorical question.

Is there anything that Americans can never be blamed for?* *that's a rhetorical question. Why should I care what Russia or China does? People care about where they live. That's why they criticize problems. America's course is somewhat simlar to the Roman Empire. Aggressive foreign policy towards acquiring raw materials. Look at the land the US acquired when Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded. US controls Saudi Arabia for the most part with military bases there. US still has military bases in the Phillipines, in Japan, in South Korea, in Germany, in London, Turkey, etc. The US sphere of influence is very large, through alliances and invasions much like Rome. Rome also fell when they hired barbarian tribes to fight their wars. I see the US arming Saudi Arabia, and sADAM IN THE 70-80's, and arming the Taliban as very similar circumstances. Arming Sadam came back to bite the US as well as the Taliban, just as arming and training European barbs came back to bite Rome. So there needs to be major work on foreign policy...which by the way is th main reason why the US is in danger.
