Osama bin Laden vs Dalai Lama To the west the former is a crim to China the latter is one too... To Muslims the former is a hero, the buddhists the latter is a hero.
What's the truth?

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I don't believe there should be 'religious leaders' as such, because religion should be a very personal thing. No one should be able to tell others what to believe or how to behave. They can - and should - lead by example though. I remember when I was younger I wanted to convert from Catholicism to Buddhism, when mum tells me 'i wouldn't bother. If it's equality and fairness you're looking for, don't go for Buddhism because it's as much of a male dominated religion as most'. Not that I believe the Dalai Lama was not a good person! Just trying to make the point that no religion is perfect and it just seems to be a matter of how some just go to more of an extreme than others, depending on what is valued more to them.

^ Are the Buddhist teachings and beliefs gender-biased? Or is it just the institutions.. I'm ignorant. And I agree - eye of the beholder.
