Is not per capita surgeries a more sensible ranking? In that case, the USA falls to #19.
Also, how are the statistics collected? Are burn victims who receive facial reconstruction surgeries considered "plastic surgery customers"? What about countries such as China or Korea, where there are huge numbers of illegal or semi-legal plastic surgeons on street corners?

^Copy paster. *edit: If you want to look at it per capita, go ahead, it's on the same site anyway. I just think it's funny that you strive so to make Koreans/Chinese sound like they have such a huge booming black market plastic surgery problem when it would be a more obvious comment that you could make about South America. But then, that isn't your target of insult, is it? Koreans/Chinese don't have more plastic surgery than US people. They're just prettier. Here's the link to per capita (happy? ): www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_pla_sur_pro_percap-plastic-surgery-procedures-per-capita

Again, I ask how these statistics are compiled. According to findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_20061221/ai_n17078745"If any country is likely to lead the revolution in wearable computers it is South Korea, where high broadband use and the world's highest rate of plastic surgery provide the medical and technical infrastructure to meet the demand." english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200509/200509260014.html"The cosmetic surgery rate of Korean women is already the world’s highest with 17 percent. " www2.law.columbia.edu/course_00S_L9436_001/2000/surgery.htm"The rate of the general public going under the knife is currently at about 13 percent in Korea, while that in the United States is less than 3 percent. Plastic surgery has become so popular that the government even introduced a "reasonable" bill last year to reissue national registration cards to those whose appearance has changed as a result of plastic surgery."

Apparently plastic surgery tourism is getting to be quite big. The procedures are cheaper in countries such as Mexico, and they get a scenic backdrop to enjoy as they heal.

I hear of lots of this in Thailand. LMAO @ "scenic backdrop to enjoy as they heal". "Wow, my crippling pain is slightly better here in paradise."

haplotype: You're just showing your bias even more. You choose not to believe statistics that show East Asian countries to be lower on the list. You instead dig up different stats to attack East Asian countries. Statistics can never be perfectly accurate, there will always be different results with different stats. In the end, stats say the most about the people who believe them. The stats you chose to believe, and the way you presented your original point, attempting immediately to leap into attack against East Asian countries instead of other obvious choices speaks to some inner racial turmoil on your part.

How is this an "attack on East Asian countries"? If burn victims receive facial reconstructive surgery, is this a good thing or bad thing? How about harelip or other birth defects? Is circumcision considered "aesthetic surgery"? Again, I ask what they include in these statistics, since it makes a huge difference.

It's no surprise the US is at the top; but surprising China isn't up there for obvious reasons.

It's no surprise the US is at the top; but surprising China isn't up there for obvious reasons. That's because the cost of plastic surgery is still out of reach for most Chinese and the sheer size of China's population (over 1.3 billion) really lowers the per 100,000 figure. Heck, the number of Chinese getting plastic surgeries could reach the population of the U.S. and this statistic would still be only in the single digits.

^Still it' s a bit surprising that Mexico is way up there second only to the US.
