Sharing should be encouraged in my opinion, IMPOSEMENT, however, that's something else. Nonetheless, I don't see imposement in gifts and things so I don't see how cultural souvenirs can be a loaded topic. Ne ways, as for gifts and things, I was once thought to possess an empathical (from lack of a better English term) trait in which contributes in an ability to be able to provide rather memorable gifts. Unfortunately I mainly used this skill to seduce a few individuals who I wanted to, hehe 'give in' to my 'abilities' I remember one girl who I liked for one year during school, found out everything about her, sent her a gift, via mail for christmas, and got her to like me ALL through the next year - though I got over her by that year!!! LOL I was so cruel... still am. Confused the hell outta her. Ne ways Celtriya I'm almost offended you don't consider me a jerk =/

I know "souvenirs" have the potential to be a loaded topic (tourism industry/economy v. pawning off indigenous cultures and even illegal trafficking of cultural items) but hopefully it'll stay respectful. I like buying from local artisans. I often end up buying jewelry for my girlfriends. It's nice having a chat with the people making what you buy. I get to learn about techniques and rocks or grains... not that I'm skilled enough to recreate any of it. But it's nice to know the history behind something you buy. My closest friends are girls, so I guess it works out because I seem to have a hard time finding souvenirs for guys... I usually don't get them anything because I don't want to clutter their space with useless things. Or I buy food I tried and that I want to share with friends.

You know how you never dare to throw presents away even if they're totally useless to you and you have no room for them. Aye I can so relate to that, to be honest I actually reject gifts sometimes if I know it's going to take up too much space. Even in urban environments I move around a lot, so more things = more work when moving.
