Ok, so you get dragged to Karaoke... your friends have been crooning disgustingly off-tune renditions of Hey Jude, You've Lost that Lovin Feeling and Beyonce's latest for the past hour. They're piss drunk, your shy and you're literally just finding your backbone. You take matters into your own hands, steal the remote control, set the song and then grab the mike. What are those songs you whip out on them? They may not be your favourite songs, but they're the ones that you love singing and better yet, get a weird response from all your friends. Post them here! ;D Just a few of the ghosts in my closet Lea Salonga - Nandito Ako ("I'm here" in tagalog, an OPM classic) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac0tmKj7ktA(This is the song where my white friends realize I'm not white... and where my filipino friends shake their heads)Presidents of the USA - Peaches*starts jumping on the sofa*Next Time I Fall - Peter Cetera & Amy Grantthis song is best sung by two dudes! i can hit Amy Grants high notesWelcome to the Jungle - Guns N RosesI heart Guns N Roses coz I can do a spot on Axl RoseAlso gotta few Hindi, Cantopop, and Asian pop sludge buried away. and i know like, every backstreet song by heart. someone kill me pleaseWho's next?!

My first karaoke experience was getting a perfect score on Cascada - Everytime We Touch. It's funny because I'm a dude, and I'm singing a girls song about being with a dude, I liked it.

okay who can forget prince and MJ... albeit their voices are a little high, even for me. total voice crackage but usually my embarrassment is buffered by a ridiculous amount of alcohol.
as for the bon jovi vid, chickensoda, i never knew he was responsible for that song. HAHA. what's pathetic is that i've been living in new jersey for a while and i think that's b.j.'s homestate.

Deacon Blues by Steely Dan, 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins or Losing My Religion by REM. Just because it's Karaoke doesn't mean I have to sing a crappy song that I hate. For kicks I would probably do Right Said Fred or another rap song (Because I got high is pretty fun).

fun thread I saw Lea Salonga ages ages ago as Kim in Miss Saigon and loved her! first times I went to karaoke bars I absolutely hated it. Waaaaayyy too shy to get anything out in front of others and I still prefer the Korean karaokes (noraebang), where you just have a room for yourself and your friends. Makes the atmosphere just a little bit more cozy Favourites are: Tashanie - haru, haru Monica - for you I will Stevie Wonder - easy like Sunday morning Alicia Keys - If I ain't got you of AND Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes - time of my life ay, anything cheezy actually PS: how can you embed those youtube vids in here?

I am the queen (note that queen doesn't imply any form of talent) of corny songs.
Hey, Rob, don't be knocking Hey Jude. There's a clip of my (yes, slightly inebriated) friends and I "singing" it. The Beatles would cringe, but what great fun.
Faves include Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive I once went to a karaoke place and they didn't have the song! How dare they not have this classic!? Geri Halliwell - It's Raining Men Abba - Dancing Queen Bon Jovi - Bed of Roses Aerosmith - Don't Wanna Miss a Thing Sixpence None the Richer - Kiss Me Madonna - Like a Virgin Lauren Hill - Killing me Softly No Doubt - Don't Speak Aretha Franklin - Respect The Supremes - Stop! In the Name of Love Marvin Gaye - Ain't no Mountain High Enough Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the Moon Ben E. King - Stand by Me The Mamas and the Papas - California Dreamin' Billy Joel/Westlife - Uptown Girl Any Spice Girls or BSB song
At least I never attempt I Will Always Love You.
I need to start singing Tagalog songs. Even my dad tries singing them. Shame on me.
I wish I could find karaoke songs for the great French singers too. I love randomly belting out Aznavour or Brel (yes, I know, he's from Belgium) songs, the Frenchies are missing out on great fun by not having karaoke renditions.
