^Oo I heard the airport pays pretty decently. (me and my friends have been meaning to apply) Maybe because it's a trek to travel to. It really depends on your position at the airport. Some of them are paid really low wages, so even though you fly for cheap, you can barely afford that, plus accomodations.

i'm kind of a Jill-of-all-trades. We should go into business together! Did lots of bitch work at TD Bank in University... ie// call/hell centre and back office stuff. Hey, that's a pretty good job to have in university.... with the amount of crap I see in CVs these days, I'm sure you can twist your back-office experience into something like global head of M&A. What's the endgame after CFA if I can ask? - Team Co-ordinator at McDonald's (trained employees and supposedly supported management team) "Supposedly" supported management teams? Not a team player are we Alex? Here's a pop McDs quiz (cannot check google) 1) What are the temperatures of the fryer and the clamshell grills? 2) What are the three R's? 3) What is the technical term for the window server's achievement when he/she completes a shift with a correct cash balance? 4) How long does food last in the bin? (I realize no one uses the bin anymore) 5) Who founded McDonalds? I'm a full-time student working part-time at an airport. I've been employed for a year and eight months. This is my first job... That's a great job to have a student - and especially as a first job. Heard that if you can move into security/border services (ie Government inspection part of airport operations), there's a big bump in pay and a pretty cool career track. And if you're deadset on waitressing/tips, why not head back to the phils and be a Gordon's Gin girl or something? The "good' ones get swept up by the tycoon's sons and live a life of luxury --------------------- Separately, I might as well gloat about my latest job. Got a writing gig. Major network. 1 hour show one day a week. Financial news satire/comedy. Anything goes. They actually asked me to present or guest, but I gotta keep my face off of TV (esp in my current fat-a$$ state) ... but still, totally psyched !!! ;D

I would only become a TC if I didn't have to open, since I didn't have my own car and it wasn't fair to make my mom get up that early to drive me to work. So yeah, take that as you will. But I did make people work if they were slacking! As for your quiz... I'm kind of relieved to say that I don't remember any of that.

^Sweet, whats the show called? Will let you know when it airs! I'm still trying to think up ideas and there have been a few "creative differences" already. Good luck on the teaching gig.... (better to do in HK?) tho I was kinda hoping you'd go back to the whole flogging soap roses thing Heh. Whoa, sweet deal on not having to open... that was the most difficult job at McDs... didn't realize you could bend the rules like that. hmmm... very disappointed you don't remember your McDs trivia .... i'll have to assume you weren't that excited about attending the McDs Olympics or Hamburger University as well (which totally rocked by the way).

- Receptionist/"beauty consultant" at a swanky hair salon (ie. I did makeup touch ups and a few full blown makeup applications - those were very, very nerve wracking!) No kidding, you were one of those people?! Did they give you training or just let you 'do your thing'? Sometimes I have to wonder about those women behind the makeup counters... They're wearing POUNDS of makeup and I really wouldn't want them coming anywhere near me with so much as a mascara wand. I have had a small variety of "jobs." Wouldn't really call most of them working for a living though, with the exception of one. - Shuffled with paper work and faffed around on the computer at a health insurance company in university. MIND NUMBINGLY DULL. But they seemed to like me there and treated me well. - Worked as a bubble tea barrista for a while. MMMMM free boba! MMMM taro. Surprisingly enough, I haven't gotten sick of it. - Two years as a high school English teacher in Japan. Best experience of my life. - Retail whore who is paid to smile and fill the silence with inane flattery. But I'm not going to complain too much. The store is beautiful, the merchandise sweet and the discount somewhat bearable. Back to school again soon. Wheeee!

Doh, just remembered I also had a stint working at the university library. Added it to the list! Yeah, I think they really needed TCs, I was surprised they let me get away with it. But seriously, there was no way I was doing that! I used to know all that McDonalds trivia... now I remember first in, first out. That's about it. Did you actually get to to go the university? That would have been pretty amazing, even just to be able to say you did it. For most of my time at that salon I was just up a straight up receptionist (also did shampoos every once in a while and swept up the floors), but then we merged with this chain of salons that made its own makeup, so I had to push the makeup. I had a few sessions with their head makeup artist, but I didn't have nearly as much training as a MAC makeup artist does. It sucked having to wear "a full face of makeup" every day. And they also made us wear our hair up, which seemed dumb to me. I worked at a hair salon, we should be able to switch it up! But yeah, I hear you about not wanting to let people near you with a makeup brush when they're wearing waaaay too much. I found working retail really awkward at times. Some women really lose it when they try on clothes and it puts you in such a weird position to try and help them with their body image when you met them 5 minutes earlier. I imagine you must get some of that, too.

(better to do in HK?) tho I was kinda hoping you'd go back to the whole flogging soap roses thing I knowww! But past valentines day, they dont sell too well (and with good reason). Too bad the old tacky toy stalls at clarke quay are long gone, i could have tried my luck there! I'm staying in singapore until the end of june then going back to HK, too much stuff to sort out in singers.. I'm getting some surgery too so i need recoop time from that (edit: i just realised that sounds serious, its not). I cant wait to move to hong kong officially though!! EEEk i love it there.

I'm pretty much a full time bludger.
Currently in my last semester of uni, been there since 2005 and beginning to sense that I'm gonna miss the lifestyle. To keep my disposable income incoming, I work at the same NGO that I volunteer at. Previously I was a slave in retail where I would persuade customers not to buy the stock and even recommend other stores to go to.

^Oo I heard the airport pays pretty decently. (me and my friends have been meaning to apply) Maybe because it's a trek to travel to. I live 10-15 minutes away from...okay, I'll just say it, LAX and yeah, I think working at an airport whilst still in school or early on is great. At least where I'm at, airport minimum wage is higher than the state's. Do it! Good luck. ;D By the way, I don't work for any airline...yet. - ~-~- moralhazard, lol, I use to do the same thing (sometimes). I'd tell people about the better deals they could easily find elsewhere...

I'm just a Uni student. I'm thinking about getting a job @ starbucks or somewhere like that cuz they're always hiring...but I'm avoiding places like MacDonalds or burger king cuz I gain weight pretty easy.
