It looks like she just died. That's quite sad.

I know 2 women who became paraplegics, one in her 40s, the other 20s after car accidents. They're both alive and function well in society but honestly I'd rather just die. I'm sorry, Flat Top, but that's the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. But yeah, each to their own....

I just wanted to say that you've got to appreciate life with its ups AND downs. And it's perfectly possible to enjoy life with para- or tetraplegia. That's all.
I didn't want to derail the thread!

I didn't want to derail the thread! you re so positive thesa. i love that. i should have seen that earlier. i always go on and on about how flaws and imperfections can be just as beautiful but often fail to make a parallel with the ups and down of life. lesson learned. still need to actually apply it though. flat top, i know what you "meant" but you overreacted a tad bit there. she may not know you but you don t either. as thesa said, to each their own. and back on topic: sad thing about that skiier.

OK, let me explain: your statement got my blood moving because I felt it was a slap in the face of all those, that TRY TO MAKE IT WORK day in and day out. Of course there are challenges and struggles, but honestly, where are they not? You gotta love life to go on.
But as I said in my previous post: if that's how you feel, that's how you feel, I just wish that most of us don't feel that way.

^you ve made your point. no need to reiterate. we ve got it. no need to twist the knife in the wound. good that you can be "un-pc" about it but if someone takes offense to your un-pc self then i don t see why you should be so susceptible now that they re being un-pc too. why can t you even accept that someone be un-pc to you when you take so much pride in not sugarcoating things and being "Un-PC" yourself? edit: oops. meant at flat top. hi thesa! i m out

That's enough - I think everyone's position is well known now.

I haven't been watching the news lately, had no idea that she had died. How horrible . I've only been skiing once.....Well,I don't even know if it can technically be called skiing. Basically I had to spend half an hour walking around in "pizza" position.

well, i was watching msnbc yesterday and from the sounds of it, she just had some really bad luck. after the accident, people said she walked away and laughed it off but later complained of a headache. and well...yeah. very unfortunate... and scary. makes me afraid to give snowboarding another try [not really into skiing]. well, everyone... just be careful. What a mess the media is making on her skiing accident. I once went skiing. Practiced on the bunny slope alone but then these girls I went with didn't realize I was a newbie so they took me to intermediate slopes I suppose but thank God I didn't know it. All I did was fall. I had so many bruises. Now I read about Richardson having an accident on the bunny slope, maybe brain dead or brain swelling. Could she have had a pre-existing condition or just bad luck or what?
