Forum got a new theme going: notable firsts. 1994 Blues Traveler is still one of my favorite bands. They have a sound all to themselves. Anyone remember those mail-in order catalogs? Each album was a stamp and you had to tear off the stamp and stick it to the order form. It was kinda of gimmicky, but anywho, I ordered my first album from that thing. I ended up loaning it out for a Smash Mouth album. My friend liked the Blues Traveler album so much that he never gave it back. I also did my first music report on a song off this album...bah but who buys music anymore.

I remember how everybody in high school used to listen to Limp Bizkit. Good times when there was no global financial crisis.
First album was Smash Mouth - Astro Lounge

The first I was about to buy was Rage Against the Machine (self-titled) way back when I was 9.
Due to explicit lyrics my parent's wouldn't approve.
I had to settle for 'The best of Henry Mancini'

Oh man, the Nightfly is one of my favorite albums. It would have been nice to grow up in an era when that could have been my first CD, but then I would have had to wait another decade for another Fagen/Becker album and almost two for another Steely Dan album. They played New Frontier at the last show I say at the Greek Theater.

hahaha! My first record was "You Can't Stop the Music" by the Village People, but that was bought for me by my parents.
I think the first one I bought for myself was "The Cockroaches" in 1987 (some band members later became the Wiggles)
