If you are a local northern California (well, Bay Area mostly) or will be visiting the area, April 11th through 19th (on the weekends) will be the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown San Francisco. nccbf.org/home/Pretty near forgot about it!

and for good measure: www.asianart.org/"The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco is one of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian art. But we are more than just an art museum—we are your ticket to Asia. Here, you can travel through 6,000 years of history, trek across seven major regions, and sample the cultures of numerous countries."

My 6 year old son will be in the parade. He was in it twice before with his preschool. I'm not of Japanese extraction but grew up and still live in the area. There will also be an Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage festival in Civic Center on May 8th, 11-6pm. Sometimes I just like to feel so Pan-Asian/Pacific Islanderesque, and feel that shared camraderie (real or imagined) with U.S. born Asians.

I won't be able to go into the city to see any of it because of work. If you take pictures, please share them with us!
