Don't you sometimes feel that your life was meant to be something but turned out to be something else whether it is by your own choices or simply by the course of events.
Are you disillusioned by it or on the contrary satisfied with both your new actual life and outlook on it ?

So, I'm guessing that something happened to your life Tetra?
As for living, I have two mottos - "To aspire to be more, not have more" and "No expectations, no dissapointments". Perhaps the latter suits this thread.

Are you disillusioned by it or on the contrary satisfied with both your new actual life and outlook on it ? Like when I was young everything was new and exciting and whole of life was ahead. I was going be someone who made a difference, like a famous scientist for example. Then time marches on, various disappointments occur, and I am just another old fart with a mortgage. Still, it's not that bad, I'm fairly happy with my life and my job. What about you tetra?

I'm now jobless with no momentum. It wouldn't be hard to find a job, but what I want to to find my calling. But where is that to be found. I feel that I still have it all ahead of me, but I am afraid to make mistake and take the wrong path. In my 20s I didn't have this fear.

Maybe I fear aging, like jaz put it so nicely I DON'T want be just another old fart with a mortgage, I feel like my life should be meaningful to me but also to others. Having a job that is enjoyable itself but also relieves people pain. Maybe I'm having a sort of vocational crisis...

I was a bit depressed the other day, it's not really so bad being an old fart with a mortgage. I have to live somewhere - if I didn't have a mortgage I'd be renting and then complaining about dopey landlords and real estate agents.
I kind of happy with my job - I get to help a lot of students, and there are also opportunites to learn new things, do postgraduate study etc. while getting paid. Mostly my job is enjoyable but there is a lot of stress at times.

I have to live somewhere - if I didn't have a mortgage I'd be renting and then complaining about dopey landlords and real estate agents. I mull over this a bit sometimes. The "pride of ownership" is a bit overrated, but I do like being able to do almost whatever the hell I want to my place. Sucks being upside down on my mortgage, though. But like you said, I'd otherwise be renting -- and a place like mine would rent for a bit more than what I'm paying for in mortgage anyway... I don't mind my job so much. Just wish I had more hours in the day to pursue outside activities.

I saw a 7 foot something guy on the street yesterday. He was tall enough to get my attention from just his prescence. Damn he was tall, but he probably wasn't as tall as the guy in my avatar.
