Me and a friend went clubbing last night, that's where we met her secret love interest, a couple of forced giggles and cocktails later, we took the last train home.
Upon our arrival to the entrance hall she told me on the verge of tears that if she didn't manage to get to her door in the next 2 minutes (she lives on the 12th floor and the elevator was off service), the guy she's got a crush on would never date her !
Imagine how hard it was to refrain from laughing and to look compassionate with such a ridiculous self-imposed challenge. ;D

I do that all the time to totally unrelated things. For example..when I cross the street..I'll be like "okay if I can make it all the way across before that light turns red then I will be happy for the rest of my life" Haha. I have a habit of doing that to everything.

A guy I'm working with was supposed to be a triplet and they told his mom he was a girl. Then he absorbed his two siblings in the womb, was born a boy, and was also stillborn but they revived him. I tell him he has a strange destiny.

^ No way...really? How could he have absorbed his siblings in the womb when he was large enough to have his (hers?!) gender predicted?
Okay - I just looked it up and no s***, it really does happen? Wow, I know what story I'll be telling anyone who's willing to listen! haha
In a similar vein to the OP, this isn't really a 'weird story' as such, but it's a weird quirk I, my sister and my friend have. When we see magpies we count them and say this rhyme as we count: 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for girl, 4 for boy, 5 for new, 6 for old, 7 for a secret never to be told.
They rhyme itself comes from old superstition, but I'm not sure how we came to attribute it to magpies. Regardless, my mood/expectations for the day are directly affected by how many magpies I see, so when I only see 1, I get really worried! I know it doesn't mean anything, but the most annoying part is the fact I've been doing this so long, I can't stop - it's a reflex when I see magpies. Bloody birds - hate them

Oh, this is a weird story though. I'll try to cut a long story short. I went to a psychic who told me I used to be a healer in a past life, so I read a bit about how it's done (hands above chakras, white light, etc) Anyway, my partner at the time used to have unexplained fits in which he wouldn't actually black out, but feel the pain. One day he had a bad one and in my stress I thought I'd try the hands on healing (without actually touching him) and visualisation, and almost immediately he drew a loud breath in and stopped having his fit. Then he opened his eyes (had been closed entire time) and looked at me, almost scared, and said, "what did you do?". I said, "what do you mean?" and he told me it felt like the electricity in his body had come rushing out of his stomach (above where one of my hands had been). It was so bizarre! I wasn't originally going to tell him what I'd tried to do (what was the point? Embarrassing!), but since it seemed to have worked, I told him. We both tripped out. Maybe it was a coincidence, but that feeling he had he said he's never had before and it never worked again since. For the record, my ex didn't actually believe in that kinda stuff either

Maybe belief isn't enough. Talk to some healers, find out what the art means to them, get inside their heads.
I like the magpie rhyme.
