Nice. I've made it with Courvosier VS and Cointreau, but even though that is a more classic recipe, it would seem like Grand Marnier would go better because it's already brandy based. What do you use for that?
While we're on cognacs, I've recently gotten into doing blind taste tests of different spirits to see if I can tell which are better. I made my wife try a Remy Martin XO (which is like $200 a bottle) and a Courvossier VS (which is only about $40) and she actually liked the VS more and thought it was the expensive one (perhaps because I poured a bit more of it). I could definitely tell the difference, but probably don't appreciate it enough to pay such a freakin' large amount of money.

i can confirm Rob loves the girlie fruit and umbrella drinks! The Singapore Sling from Raffles is very disappointing. its churned out thick juice, they have jugs of it already made, not personally made at all like i was expecting since it was at the famous this-is-where-it-was-invented bar. ^lychee midori sours Any idea what the mix is? Sounds deliciously girly (I'm not above it) but I can't find a straightforward recipe. Does it use lychee juice or some kind of lychee vodka? i'll ask my barman for the recipe. they use whole lychees (i think canned stuff) in it. midori and lime juice sounds delicious too! *reminding myself i am on detox this week*
