A co-worker and I were queuing at a Lebanese deli for lunch when a group of 3 twenty-somethings came around and started to copiously insult us, they thought we were Muslims, at first we tried to ignore them but they would not stop.
We told to f**k off but they still persisted threatening us, my blood was boiling, I couldn't fight the anger building up and was ready to get into a fight any second. My co-worker remained calm and reminded me that I was on a temporary visa there and ending up at the police station was not really an option.
Thank god, the stocky restaurant manager took our side and got them to leave. A couple of hours later, even if they provoked us I felt quite ashamed of my lack of self-control.

Mmm, fun stuff. I consider myself to have a decent amount of self-control, but if there's a fight going on, I'm in. Been in fights I had no part in making-hell, I'll shake hands with the opposing side.
Regardless, you did the right thing. Often times, people who go out looking for trouble carry weapons.
and I suppose it's the mature thing

That's some serious sh*t. Did it have anything to do with the neighbourhood?
This may seem like the chicken answer, but why didn't you just leave the deli?

You showed pretty good restraint and I don't see why u'd be upset at yourself - it was a perfectly good reason to level a beat-down.
Thread reminded me of Laura Branigan RIP
