For good or bad reasons there are always some activities that we abandon. What are yours? Until recently, I was regularly practicing fencing (a very emulating and fun sport) but because of time restraints, dumped it in favor of body-building which I can practice anytime but is a very tedious activity although exercising is always better than not.. Apparently, being fit or athletic is not enough, you have to be MUSCULAR to be a real male. Also, I quit so many different language classes: Portuguese, German, Japanese, those would've been useful now, hope I won't abandon Mandarin.

abandoned art class I only went to for 2 months simply because friend invited me to join, but I found that I ended up chatting away to her and the other students half the time so I couldnt fully focus (and it was overpriced)
plus I was the only non-mando speaker and found the teacher had a hard time to give me critiques in English :S I still do draw though~!

I didn't quit sucking my thumb until I was 12, when I got braces. I probably shouldn't admit that.
I quit playing the trumpet and French horn before high school, because I didn't like my band director and I was too lazy to practice. I wish I didn't quit that. Band geeks are very tight-knit and they provide for great networking opportunities in the long run. Other than that, I never really began any other activities. I should, though. Combination of being too shy, too lazy, and too broke is what prohibits me at the moment.

I basically gave up on learning how to dance after a handful of salsa and ballroom classes. I pretty much quit playing classical music as well after my last quartet dissolved. And I used to blog regularly on political and economic topics but haven't done anything in almost a year. None of these things are high enough priorities these days, plus I'm getting lazier every year.

Okay let's see, I quit piano lessons after about 7 years, karate lessons after 4 years, used to play trombone in high school but haven't picked one up in years, took belly dancing classes for a little over a year but eventually stopped going, also quit going to my friend's zumba classes out of sheer laziness. I think that about covers it...
edit: oh yeah, quit ballet classes when I was much younger, maybe 5 or 6? also attended italian classes and vietnamese classes when I was a teenager and eventually gave those up as well.

Smoking. I'd say I was only half addicted the whole time, never had any cravings. But I still enjoy having 1 or 2 when drinking Lucky you, man. I don't think I could quit if my life depended on it. And it probably will someday.

^^ There was a weekend in November I spent $540 on alcohol alone. Don't know how but I did. I've been dry for 12 days and going strong! (I'm only giving up for Jan, but I think 12 days is the longest I've been stone cold sobre since I was 17 ^ I quit after smoking for 8 years without patches, gum etc. I guess you've just got to really want to- because it really does suck for a while. Even 2 years into it, give me two beers and I was craving. I think I've finally reached a state where the thought never crosses my mind and even seems nasty. Problem is sf when you realise your life depends on it, it's generally too late. Anyway enough preaching from the ex-smoker ... I'm only a little holier than thou

used to do hapkido... but moved and no one teaches it here.
also facebook recently. I'm normally out of control online, but I figured people I knew in real life didn't need to see that.
