How often do you go out? How is the scene in your city?
I'm not a huge club buff but I still manage to go every two weeks or so with a little group of friends. I'm more into live music be it in venues or outdoors festival and god knows there are plenty street festivals in NYC and Montreal throughout the year.
I noticed that people have different nightlife habits depending on the region. From my experience Asian clubbers are not too keen on drugs while they are the norm in Europe. Bar fights and police arrest are quite ordinay in North America therefore nightlife here is a little stressful compared to other locations because it's really easy to spend the night in detention for meaningless things. One time I got busted once for simply witnessing. IMO zero tolerance killed much of the fun. Anyways, I try to stay away from trouble so I tend to stick with low-key bars and ethnic food joints (Jamaican patties, yum).
Many cities have strict laws about alcohol, 24-hour drinking is allowed in London. Is it true the city is a battlefield after nightfall?

From time to time, I drag some friends into cultural activities, last summer in Paris, we browsed several museums and galleries at night, it definitely was an intimist experience. Who as a child never dreamt of fooling around in a museum at night? I know, I have. Other simple things like enjoying a drink or an ice cream while visiting monuments by night with no crowd in sight can be a total bliss. And there's also the cafés where people debate philosophy or world politics in a lively setting with total strangers, I can never miss out.

Not one person to at least share night-related spicy anecdotes?

I go to a bar on open mic nights now and then, play guitar and sing. I used to meet up and play with a girl, but I haven't seen her for a while now. I think she got a band.

Australia is pretty boring at night. Normal shops close at 5pm, cinemas and other bowling type places close close to 12am, drinking holes close up at ~2am, karaoke places close at about 6am. I'm not the clubbing type at all, would rather eat a good meal and watch sports with friends at a bar somewhere. There's not really much to do at night - unlike Asia where we could go and eat out at 3am if we wanted (not like Sydney where there were only specific places open at 3am. And I'm not talking about maccas!)

Yeah, now that I'm married there's no real night life anymore. I have to admit that I do miss drinking and dancing into the wee hours a little bit, but since 90% of the motivation was always to hook up with girls, it makes sense to give it up. Going out these days is either a house or dinner party, or watching sports at a pub. I still go to the odd concert. Berkeley really isn't a "going out" type of town anyway, and the public transport situation makes it a bit of a drag to go out in San Francisco.
I have to say that the best nightlife I ever experienced was in Buenos Aires - going out after midnight, coming home at dawn, cheap as hell, beautiful girls all around, virtually none of the local men can dance (so it's easy to get a little attention), gorgeous mega-clubs, smoking indoors, etc. The only real downer is that the musical tastes aren't always the greatest - a bit behind the times and a little repetitive.

Buenos Aires, huh? It's about time I connect with my Argentinian family. Or at least crash at their place while I fiesta it up.

Buenos Aires is reknown for its nightlife. An Argentinian friend keeps telling me just how boring he finds NYC, people are too cerebral and stuck up for him, need to pay the city a visit one day.

I'm in Sierra Vista, Arizona at the moment. It's about an hour and a half away from Tucson and 3 hours from Phoenix. It's about 15 minutes from Mexico, surrounded by mountains and has some breathtaking scenery. Besides the base and a small town built around it, it's pretty much desert until you hit Tucson.
Not really a club guy, but I do occasionally get dragged into these things. Just the other day we went to a place called "Dusk Till Dawn." Yes, like the movie.

Chicago's always got multiple things going on every night. And if not, hey I like chilling at home too.
