It partly does as I'm fairly talkative and cerebral in real life nevertheless I don't really open up when it comes to discussing my feelings like I (excessively) do here. In the end of the day, I'm a guy and guys don't share these things plus 95% of my social circle is monoracial therefore it's impossible to talk about subjective race-related experiences.
What about you?

Pretty much.
Short, simple and just straight to the point, how I view effort in typing, to me, is measured by the same as my breath. However, I am way more open and direct with what I say on the internet because I cannot be punched in the face.

I'm just as argumentative in real life and just as uninterested in talking about my feelings. But on the internet I'm distinctly less Reptilian.

I'm less likely to say anything I type on here, but I'll certainly be thinking it in my head. So I suppose I am the same, but you wouldn't know because in real life I'm quite introverted.

Hey, great question
My serious side is probably what I least reflect here-when I'm on the clock it's no nonsense or bulls***. I'll work days with little-to-no-sleep if the need arises and during PT I strive for constant improvement. I'm probably better known for my PT sessions since news of my close calls spread (most recent was a coworker joining me and almost drowning).
Off the clock, I'm pretty laid back. Most the stuff my buds and I do I won't mention here (what I do mention is tame in comparison). Nothing's off limits (if the topic comes up, anyway) and I don't get offended. There's other dimensions, of course, and things I keep to myself.
Since I don't really have anything to prove here and don't have to work with y'all everyday, here's one:
I really do like my family
Even if they cause me pain. Any given month I forfeit between 40-150% of my paycheck to make sure they can eat. While I don't show it, it irks me when I see people getting help from their parents (like a new car, spending cash, a plane ticket or college tuition). I don't hold it against them, hell, I'm happy for them, but I wouldn't mind if my situation were a little more ideal. Yes, I understand there are many people who have it worse than me, but nobody would get anywhere gauging themselves by the standards of starving Ethiopian children.
There's a good side. It's given me a real drive in life and has me really appreciating cheaper things like days spent at the beach, treks across mountains and deserts, and sometimes just sitting around and listening to somebody (a lot of people seem to love talking to me about their problems. Not that I mind, I think it has a bit of a therapeutic effect on me).
Funny, actually, I didn't actually understand fully what was bothering me until I typed that out. I guess there are things I can do here that I wouldn't dream about out in the real world.
*not sure where this belongs, but I constantly watch porn while I'm on the internet (also also spend at least an hour talking about it every day). So yes, even as I post here I have a movie running in the background. One of my old high school buddies hosts a fileserver that's pretty much a compilation of everything a group of 10 or so guys have watched since 2007 and it still gets updated weekly. Bless him

I just assume every guy spends hours looking at internet porn until they say otherwise, and if they do I assume they are liars, like my high school friend who claims he never masturbated...
Interesting to hear that you support your family so much Monroe. I think it's admirable but agree it's certainly not ideal - support should really run much more in one direction, at least until they're really sick or old (hope that's not the case). My parents will be fine but my mother in law might need some financial subsidies if she ever wants to retire.

A friend of mine who is a huge porn movie buff loves to give us precise details about his solitary sex life, last time he confided to me: "Do you remember that night we were discussing on AIM about what we should eat? I wasn't very responsive because I was jerking off on my monitor". The kind of story that not only is disturbingly evocative but is disgusting when it involves a buddy.
Anyways, props to you for sending money to your family, you won't regret it. I've been supporting my little sister for the past 3 years and she's starting a lucrative job in investment banking next month so I'll finally be able to pay my loan sharks and move back to Paris.

Pretty sure I'm not the only one, but I watch different types of porn every day (though I only watch one type per day) and I never watch the same kind two days in a row
Despite watching all this smut, my social and sex life do alright. Just a few weeks back (before I took a break), actually, I was getting some in a friend's room (so mine didn't get messy) and finished off the night running down the hallway with my hands full of bedsheets and detergent. Stopped by a group of people (including said friend), "I just jizzed all over your sheets!"
Betahat, I too knew a guy who said he never masturbated-real Evangelical sort. Told him that was disgusting, but that he'd be in my thoughts while I knocked one(two) out after school. Don't really understand why, but the whole concept of virginity actually grosses me out instead of seeming appealing.
Very awesome of you too, Ganbare and congratulations . I think I do it because the whole Asian concept of family was instilled, but there's no way I'll regret it (even if it means I'm walking instead of driving a new car).
*You know, I actually read one of the above posts as "We need to know everything about you." Too late

Strangely enough I seldom discuss race and politics with people around me less because of a lack of receptivity than not being interested in getting in serious discussions with them. Fact is internet is a great place to vent or debate stuff you wouldn't in real life but sometimes thinking about the things that are said here offline feels a little schizophrenic. Do you ever or what happens on the web stays on the web?
