Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was found dead yesterday in his California home -- it appears he committed suicide by hanging himself. Hideki played for the Yankees, Expos, and Rangers -- last pitching in the big leagues in 2002. He won World Series rings with the Yanks in 1998 and 1999. Irabu was 42. He was what you might call a "closeted hapa", having an American Caucasian father who did not raise him. He never spoke about his background, but his stepfather mentioned the fact in one interview. RIP, the first guy to throw a 98 MPH fastball in the Japanese big leagues.
