What is EA enough? I acknowledge that I am in fact mixed, but I am an Asian-American. Perhaps it is because I live in America. One drop rule...
As for outcasts... Perhaps I qualify too. Nobody technically disowned my family as far as I know, but my grandfather "disowned" his own family, changed his name, etc... Never got the full details on why he did that though. He's dead now and the family doesn't talk about him much. He was an alcoholic and a gambler apparently. I've always suspected that he didn't disown his family - his family disowned him.

one drop rule... so but why is white the "pure" and Asian the drop (that "impurifies"). why can't we say according to the one drop rule I'm white? I don't want to say that but I just realized it's a bit paradox. That's just why I like to think of Eurasian as a separate category. Prejudice I guess. For some weird reason I feel that society believes white is more pretty...When I tell people that Im half and half they always try to speculate what I look more like: asian or northern euro? Typical. But seriously I dont think I look like any of these categories. Im not blonde and blue eyed, and my nose looks very non-asian, as so do my eyes. I know some russian girls that are obsessed with finding a blond guy and having blond babies... They themselves are dark haired and dark eyed and look slightly EA. I think they have some complexions about themselves and what they look like.

LMAO, some Russians do look like EA, especially those from central Asia area ( eg former USSR Turkmen republic)..... ;D a lot of them believe that blondie, fair skin show a sign of "russianess" ..... To me, i think you can look great and beautiful in any complexion and hair/ eyes colour. ;D Speaking about how EA i am? LMAO, I can't even use chopstick, don't even know how to pick up Salad or Veggie, guess i am not blamed, my Asian grandpa was born and raised in Western countries..... Our chopsticks at home are only for display and beauty, no idea how to use them, i was laughed by most of my Asian friends, they made heaps fun of me! I tend to get along with "western" mates than Asians, they seems not accept that fact that my eyes are blue (even i have Asian feature on my face)........ ..... Language wise, I am happy to speak English, RUssian and Spanish, but get frustrated when my grandpa yells to me in Korean, i usually mix up the differences b/w "respect form" and " Normal form" (in Korean, even a simple THANK YOU has different forms depends on who you are speaking to LOL) .... Never dated an Asian guy in my life either, they always consider me as "foreign" lol........ Maybe i am not a good EA or I mess up too much ;D

Sub-Questions:
Do your looks make you feel more or less EA? Do you wish you looked more white? Do you wish you looked more Asian? Do you wish you looked more balanced? Do you feel like you're not good-looking enough to be EA (with all the EA beauty myths floating around)?
Do you feel 'less EA' when people label you as either Asian or white? When they do, do you correct them?

I know heaps of EA that say they "are the best of both worlds" except thing about it is - apart from having some Asian genes in them, they aren't asian at all.
In my opinion, if you can't speak Chinese (or another Asian language) then you can't consider yourself Chinese (or another Asian identity)
Therefore, you are not truly "Eurasian", a blend of Euro and Asian, apart from the genetics.

That our genetics are a blend do make us Eurasian, nothing is going to change that. What you do in life (learn languages, etc) will define your personality (what type of a person you are.) The country where we are born defines our nationality, not our genetic racial background. The EAs that have 'the best of both worlds' (in their opinion) generally do. How often do you get pure white American/English/Australian kids brought up with an Asian perspective on life as well as a Western one?

I'm replying based solely on the physical aspects of it - I offer a picture of my two sisters and I. It's a little EA spectrum

Two sisters? I always wondered what it would be like to have a sister. I have two brothers.
Side question: What were you drinking? Looks like it did it's job.

Hmmmm... I'm betting tequila. That pic was taken a while ago. These days I've upgraded to a good gin and tonic or a guiness (can anyone confirm is Guiness in Ireland really is 100X more awesome than Guiness imported to America?)
Sry to deviate from the topic but what's your drink/s of choice? I love talking to anyone who shares the same appreciation for alcohol and all of its pleasant forms as much as I do.

To contribute to the thread, I never really felt Asian until I went searching for the culture because the Japanese part of my family disowned us.
My drink of choice is rum, Sailor Jerry's in particular. But I do enjoy gin as well. I once gave my best friend a bottle of gin as a house warming gift, then proceeded to drink the entire bottle while helping him move in.

Through my recent "returning of my home" I realized that I don't know exactly where I stand anymore. In the post on another thread I mentioned I thought I was going home, back to Taiwan when I realized I've left that country for so long I don't feel connected anymore.
Do I feel eurasian?
Probably not.
For the past decade or so I've always felt that I'm an "Asian American" living in a foreign land. I love this land but I am still very much Asian, and American, very balanced. Through my experience mentioned above I now realized that I have become more of an American than a simple Asian American.
Do I want to look more Asian or White? It really isn't relevent in my life anymore. I embrace how I am preceived, and that is often Asian. I don't even correct anyone who thinks I belong to a certain race anymore. For people who are around me, they know me for who I am, not by my race. For people who aren't around me guessing my ethnicity....let's just say that they will remain strangers and there's no point of me correcting everything they say or think.
