Hi folks, I'm a white guy and I'm currently dating a half-viet/half chinese woman who I love dearly.
However, I have something of a wierd question.
My girlfriend recently wanted me to call her a racial slur during sex, apparently she says this arouses her.
I'am so totally against this however, but I need a different perspective.
Secondly, is it true that other asians call each other these things as a way of showing solidarity or friendship?
Finally, if another asian was saying a slur to another asian would this be alright?
Thanks, and again trying to be super sensitive/careful.

Uhhh, if this is for real- you're girlfriend seems to be a tad on the aural masochistic side. I would not like my husband to call me any racial slur during intimacies. As to other Asians calling each other slurs as a form of solidarity (extremely rare that I myself haven't see it) hmmm.... I haven't met any Asians who said stuff like, "Yo, yo, yo yellow dog! Whas up my chink, flip, gook, jap, goo-goo, viet-cong slanted eyed homies! I believe in pan-asian solidarity in the U.S. but I don't think I'd get that warm fuzzy feeling if I was addressed that way by another person of Asian descent.

^Because at the same time that this "new member" of EAN joined here to pose this question, a similar question was posed by a "new member" of an Asian board that I'm a member of. The same phrasing, the same misspelling of the word "weird," the only real difference was that on the other board he said that he was an Asian guy who had a white guy for a best friend, and that his best friend had an Asian girlfriend who said that. Also, I believe he changed her specific ethnicity between the two different posts on two different forums. I think he's probably just some perv who gets his rocks off describing that scenario. Ugh.

Even if it was genuine it shouldn't be dignified with response.

@ rudlisi: No "Asians" do not call each other slurs as a show of solidarity. There might be independent pockets of individuals who are fine with it (I knew a bunch of kids in high school who referred to themselves as "The Korean Gang"), but the answer is no. Don't do it. What your girlfriend wants to be called in bed is her business. Do it to me and you're more likely to get a swift kick in the jollies.
And a further no to an Asian calling another Asian a slur. Asian people respect that Asia is made of many different countries with different cultures, so while there can be Asian "unity", it's not the same as, say, the African-American concept of unity. While African-Americans have origins from many different countries, they shared the common struggle of slavery and segregation. Asians have no such common struggle, aside from being confused for each other by dumb americans. There was also the years of fighting amongst ourselves (Japan's history its neighbors is especially bad), so if someone is ignorant enough to use a racial slur, they mean it. I've had a Japanese guy tell me I was dirty because I was both filipina and mixed. It meant something because his country once occupied mine, and he saw me as being of a lower class than his (he was also a prick who believed in eugenics). My grandfather wouldn't even let Japanese people under his roof. Believe you me, if he used a slur, he meant it.
Overall, whether someone's told you they're ok with you saying it or not, it's a class-less gesture. Please refrain from it in public.

With racial slurs in public, though, best to refrain.

I like referring to white people as "stupid round eye white crackers" that always gets the chicks going usually.
