Suggestion - Create a new section dedicated to polls.
Guaranteed that over time, we'd get the following out of it:
- More interesting questions + more involvement from posters + (maybe?) more thoughtful discussions - Easy way to guage the views and pulse of the EANation - Higher participation rate - can be a one-stop voting shop. Might even pull a few lurkers out of the shadows - Useful resource for anyone doing research on the EA experience or EA-specific views

Even better suggestion: Have a section for completely unmoderated threads and posts. Much like 4chan's /b/.

Mmm Polls already space themselves out in the current threads and their not particularly big hitters.. I dunno.. wait for other people thoughts.
- - - - - - - - - - "no Rules forum"
Would you reckon it should be a members only forum, or a public forum? There are people out there that do give serious consideration for ruining sites.. hackers, trolls. If you can remember amstelveen from about a year ago who attempted to close down the site via proboards for someone's use of the abbreviated word for japanese "J*p". - I'd think a private forum would filter out attention from a majority of those people, who would get offended. the website Hapa's was screwed up because someone took offence to their site and decided to rectify the issue by hacking it, even branding it with their logo. there has even been a case where a heated arguement a person tracked down their opponent via Ip's and got the person fired for mis-use of company internet for going on a forum - im saying there are deranged people that lurk on sites & forums and get offended over the smallest things or odd issues and those issues could grow with a no rules forum.
Although its Iris's decision on creating a forum without rules, we are still binded to this sites host "proboards" and their rules when they might review us - from a complaint for example.
What will be in that forum? Ideally there needs to be enough concievable threads to support a new forum, "any topic" forums at this stage will most likely already mirror threads that exist in the other forums, the twist of no rules maybe a few full on insults to get across the same message that you would in the current threads is not that big a deal, not too much to warrant a new forum.
Probably unmoderated thread(s) about anything in the members only forum would realistically be better. However proboards still can control the content of this site.

Separately, If you guys want to debate the idea of an unmoderated forum, can you at least change the name of this thread and move my poll suggestion to its own thread? Oh, and feel free to post on Scott's unmoderated 4chan forum in the meantime. Since it's completely unmoderated, I'm sure there will be no issues in creating an unmoderated EA section and putting a link here so you can find it.

If polls are so highly valued, where is the poll for this thread? Kinda killed your own thread there in that respect. Pretty pointless suggestion in my opinion. Want to poll something? Make a thread about a topic and add a poll, no point making unnecessary sections that would be underused. No real point since polls can be readily made within threads concerning certain topics. In threads in depth responses can be contributed to a better end than a simple poll.

An unmoderated broad would eventually have to have a moderator too, so what's the point. And yeah, there's no point for a poll section but how about one for anthropology/arachelogy, though?
