From what I gather, a 'deity' is someone who has made 1000 posts.
I will put forth an idea to EAN, that I got from a site I used to frequent, with the hopes that it can become a constant trend in the future of this site.
I used to be an active member of an urban music forum for about two and a half years, before it unexpectedly closed down. I then joined EAN a couple of months ago.
Something that active members did on my 'ex-site' was every time someone reached 1000 posts (or 2000, 3000 etc), they would create a 'shoutout' thread.
For example, if done on EAN, I would name my thread, "~~~!!!LaFace's 3000 posts SHOUTOUT thread!!!!~~~"
(my attempt at making a flashy thread title lol)
In it, the member would just give 'shoutouts' to all the members on the site that they have interacted with, and perhaps write something positive about them. The member also wrote something about the site and what they like about it, and how it has brought them enjoyment etc.
eg. "Creole... loved you in the Shield!!"
You can 'shoutout' as many or as little people as you want, and you can write however much you want about each person. The idea is to share the love
You can make the comments as serious or as lighthearted (see my Creole example above) as you please. You really don't have to put much effort into it.
In response, the rest of the forum members would show their appreciation to the deity by adding what they like about the person's contribution to the site, or about their online personality etc
Personally, I think it is a good idea, and one that adds a bit of fun and unity to the site.
What do you think?
I hope for it to become a new trend on EAN, and I will personally be making one if I reach a thousand posts. If you think it is lame, feel free to bag me
The idea is to only do it for every thousandth post though. This is because if people write them for say 500th posts, then they aren't as rare, and may not cause as much excitement when they are created.
