I think T.V. Carpio, who plays Prudence in 'Across the Universe' is a EA. Part Filipina says imdb. She sings a great version of the Beatles' 'I wanna hold your hand.' uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TQfRdn8wqi4

Hmmm. Those mestizos on the first few photos look very atypically philipino and also atypically spanish? Are they really philipino-spanish??? They look more like french-german or something.

Ethel, here are photos from a fairly recent Boracay beach party that illustrate the typical mestizo (tisoy) look in the Philippines Hmm, to me it doesn't look like they have a single drop of Asian in them, they look 100% European to me If they are tisoy then I must be a full Filipina?

Yes they do look typically European - there is a wide variation in appearance of the mestizo community in the Philippines. Many of us are quite dark, and dont look as European as the above, and some of us would not be suspected of having any European blood but are members of the community by family and clan membership. In some circles there is a vague line between the mestizos, and those who are considered Spanish, but the 2 groups interact closely and intermarry. To make matters more confusing, there is a population of Filipinos, who do not consider themselve mestizos but speak Spanish as a first language, though those are now very few. In my grandfather's time there was a line between Spanish born in the Philippines (as he was), and those who were born in Spain, with the best government jobs reserved for the Peninsulares (Spain born). One can write a whole book on the nuances of the mestizo sub culture.

Malaya Rivera-Drew looks like a Filipina to me. She has what we would call the "mestizong bangus" look. .... She was on The L Word, right? Yeah, my EAdar went crazy when I saw her. Anyways...I was up late last night with the sniffles and I ended up watching a movie that I shouldn't...god this is so embarrassing...I saw "What a Girl Wants" on TV and there was nothing else on so I watched it. I'm mortified. Anyway, it was really awful but once I started I couldn't stop. Two things I noticed, one: the blonde chick that plays the bitchy stepsister character is WAY hotter than the lead girl, two: lead girl's love interest looks like he's probably EA. And, I dunno if I was just zonked out on cold medicine or what, but I could swear his character at one point referred to himself as a "halfbreed." So...yeah, I dunno.

^ I have to admit there are some similarities between their lips and maybe nose and cheeks... But to me it still looks like they have different ethnicities. I think Malaya looks South American.

A sure fire way to check if two photos are of the same person is to look at them flipped upside-down. You are then able to compare their facial features much more objectively. It's an immigration officers little trick. (I dunno how to flip them on the screen, so you'll just have to flip yourself.)

^ wow, that's a nice tip... But these two pics aren't supposed to be the same person, it was to compare the two and to see if the girl on the right could be the same ethnicity as the one on the left

I think the lighter woman is either EA or Hispanic.... The darker woman beside her looks more Thai or Malaysian and doesnt look mixed really.
