I thought The Illusionist was desperately disappointing (6/10). Quantum of Sausage was brilliant (7.5/10), though not as fresh as Casino Royale (8.5/10).
Anyone seen G.I Joe? Sorely tempted, but the reviews are awful.

I just watched the original version of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' from 1951: 8/10
I recently saw the remake with Keanu Reeves (no, we didn't go to the cinema together). Not a patch on the original - all CGI crap. Keanu is great as a rather dull geeky alien though - perfect casting. Overall: 6/10
This was one of the reviews from RottenTomatoes.com: "Rarely has an alien invasion...seemed less gripping."

Inglorious Basterds- 8/10 Perhaps the greatest Nazi movie villain of all time, some hilarious dialogue, and plenty of "they did not just show that" gore, but not as tight as some of Tarantino's previous films.

^Worth seeing in the cinema? Or would it be an injustice to wait for the DVD?

I think you can wait. There are no scenes like the battle royal Kill Bill vol.1 that really need the big screen - it's not even vaguely like a "Saving Private Ryan" type war movie and doesn't have any scenes that need the scale of a cinema. But if you're a Tarantino fan you should definitely see it.

I saw District 9 and liked it a lot. Apparently they took so much footage there will be tons of stuff on the DVD or they will just use it for a sequel :/

What's fun about District 9 is that the writer/director and lead actor are actually VFX nerds! Yet they still pulled off a very compelling independent film.
I'm going to watch it again this weekend.

The Time Traveller's Wife
This is a great film and Eric Bana puts in a star turn. I've never been a fan of his, but he's good in this. Despite the promo pics, this is not a chick flick, but more of a well produced drama with a sci-fi dimension. Saw it with my sis who's read the book. Though heavily condensed, she says they've done a great job making the film stand on its own.
Highly recommended 8/10

^ I've heard the book is really worth reading, seems like a good premise for a book/movie, but not sure if I should read the book first.
Saw (500) Days of Summer and loved it. I actually liked the characters and it felt believable. Not a bad soundtrack, either. Actually want to see this one again, JSG was really great in it. Only criticism is that they phoned in the ending. 9/10

I watched UP! and shed a few tears. I really liked it. Watched it 3D, but stupidly wore my glasses to watch the movie, so had to double up, and it gave me a slight headache.
i really love the short story movie at the start of the Pixar films too.
9/10

2.5? Just don't tell me you liked Tarantino's other movies and hated this one. If 12% of critics on rotten tomatoes didn't like it, there have to be a few people here too. Also, you misspelled "Inglourious Basterds"
