Saw V --- thrilling! The creator of this film is a genius. Though it scares me.

2.5? Just don't tell me you liked Tarantino's other movies and hated this one. If 12% of critics on rotten tomatoes didn't like it, there have to be a few people here too. Also, you misspelled "Inglourious Basterds" lol It just didn't do anything for me, had a lot of issues with the plot which annoid me at the time. Seemed like it was designed for a core audience of people who want to see a bunch of nazi's slaughtered, and nthing deeper than that. It was jokey but not funny enough to actually make me laugh. and these days im increasingly leaning towards 'tarrantino is overated' bordering on 'tarrantino is s***', although not quite as i have enjoyed some of the mans past work.

I think there is a line between people who enjoyed Kill Bill and Grindhouse (and Basterds) and those who enjoyed Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. The former are only for people who appreciate the B movies that serve as his inspiration. I think some people have the mistaken idea that Tarantino is trying to make movies that are "art" or that have some kind of "depth." On the other hand, your problem seems to be in large part that it was "not funny enough to actually make me laugh" which is a fair comment, since I believe his main goal is entertaining people rather than making them think deep thoughts about the human condition. I found it to be laugh out loud funny and cringe inducing at times (I especially loved Brad Pitt pretending to be an Italian) but not consistently, the pacing was a bit slow, and the action sequences were not as good as Kill Bill, to which I would give a 9/10 (at least part 1) for entertainment value alone. But I loved Christoph Waltz (Hans Landa). 2.5/10 is pretty low though, and unless you do some other reviews it's hard for me to tell whether you have really high standards or just really different tastes than me (and the majority of film critics). A critic who agrees with you is Stephen Whitty of the Newark Star-Ledger, but that guy panned the Two Towers, so he is dead to me. Don't tell me you were bored by that too

so one of the screenwriters of The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard or whatever it's called is a tennis coach here at my school, and his brother is my history professor. So he's offering us extra credit to go and support his brother by watching the movie and bringing in the ticket stub. A great deal, except I have to pay $6.50 for the movie ticket. So if any of you see it let me know if it's worth the money.

^True Romance - 10/10
Definitely one of Tarantino's best. I think the Walken-Hopper "Sicilian" scene is my (and apparently his) favorite from all of his films.

^True Romance - 10/10 Definitely one of Tarantino's best. I think the Walken-Hopper "Sicilian" scene is my (and apparently his) favorite from all of his films. Tarantino wrote the screenplay to this film because he needed a way to pay for the production of Pulp Fiction. Sometimes artist create quick compositions for money or to get by, only to become slightly irritated at how much people love it. But they'll defend it publicly because it attracts attention to their next masterpiece. Maurice Ravel comes to mind. Anywho, I recently saw the Russian film 12. 9.5/10 An intense film. Powerful performances. Profoundly existential.

Tarrantino's films are like cinematic masturbation. I imagine him sneaking into the theatre to watch one of his own movies. And reclining at the back for a good yank. Asked why he spelled 'basterds' so, he replied...'Why the hell not.' Such a talented bloke should try thinking more of his audience rather than his c*ck.
Pulp Fiction was a masterpiece. Nothing he's done since compares.

^Tarrantino's films are like cinematic masturbation. What, so you don't like being masturbation? I guess I get annoyed at everyone always saying how "talented" he is and how he's not living up to his potential. Well, guess what? He wouldn't be the first director to peak early. I don't think it's fair to grade on a personal curve like that - if you think Basterds was a boring crappy movie, certainly not one of the 10 best of the year, that's fine. But don't fault him for making a movie that only 89% of critics liked instead of 96% (including you in the missing 7%) And yes, having seen him on Conan recently he's certainly a bit full of himself, but who wouldn't be if they rose from humble video store clerk to smoking pot with Brad Pitt in his French Chateau, and stumbling across a bar named after you while traveling in Germany? ^Palaver, are you insinuating that Tarantino doesn't actually love that scene? Interesting factoid about Pulp Fiction anyway. I think after Natural Born Killers he resolved never to let another director interpret his screenplays.

Saw Hurt Locker this afternoon. 9.5/10 - by far the best Iraq war movie I've seen, probably the best war movie made in my lifetime, and suspenseful as hell.

I love that part in the trailer where he pulls up on the center of a gang of wires, and up comes about 5-6 shells around him out of the sand.
Glad you found it good. I'm itching to see it.

There is no point walking out of a cinema.
You're not making a statement really, unless you do it en masse. No, two girls doesn't count. They like to watch each other piss or whatever. Neither is some bearded man stepping out with a small girl. Thats either food/toilet related or pedophilia, but either way, they are most probably coming back. You paid, if it's a crap film take a nap, case closed.
My first experience of a relatively large walkout was over the weekend. Gerard Butler was fighting the good fight in the Gamer. It was absolutely rubbish. Terrible. I felt what my teachers back in school must have felt, marking one of my many disinterested assignments. But did it really warrant me moving my lazy ass off my comfy seat?
People started walking up the aisle. One or two at first. Then one group of 4 or 5 people start getting itchy. Twiddling with mobiles and what not. They leave. This empowers another group of 4 and then a few couples and before you know it, the place is bare. Never seen the like, but mind you it was a late show.
Do not watch this film. Rick Rape... my oh my Peter Petrelli.
Gamer 1/10

Inglorious Basterds 9/10 I enjoyed every minute of this, the dialogue was stretching some scenes out far too much in some areas but other than that a great movie.
