^My bf is giving his laptop to his brother. I hope he wipes my goodies beforehand or I'll slap him to Neverland.

Going to give this laptop to my sister or mother, anyway. Give the laptop with the porn/nudes to your sister/mother?! Nah, I'll clean the keyboard, format the drive and repartition after we go through and disperse the good stuff. Have a down-filled blanket and I washed it this morning. Forgot to pop it in the dryer during my lunch break and now it smells like wet dog. Like-colors with like-colors; lowest heat possible; get large items (such as blankets) dried fast: the basics of washing clothes and fabrics.

my life is so f***ing crappy right now. Haven't worked in my field for over a year, moved home, no girlfriend, 30. Then today at this temp job i took I get a call from my dad telling me a family friend who I was close with had died. I then proceeded to get a lecture from the foreman and then boss for using a cell phone at work for taking this call. What's next? Basically if I got hit by a car tomorrow and killed it would be a relief.

Dude that's a real bummer. I hope things turn around for you and this is rock bottom - with your luck you'd probably survive the car crash but be crippled for life.

^^ Don't go wishing for death. There are other people in bad or worse situations who will have the added burden of mourning your death. Dying isn't as easy as tearing out the page of a history book. There are things you need to finish. Life doesn't promise you that you'll have another year, another week, or tomorrow. Every day is a second chance. Don't waste it.

My business is a bit of a litmus test for the economy and after a long dry spell things are picking up. I am sure whatever lull in your field there has been it should be on the mend. I have no advice on the girlfriend thing - perhaps someone who knows everything could suggest something.

Society is changing you don't have to be done with your education in your early twenties nor do you need to get married at 30 nor do you need to have kids anymore either, be patient. Some people suffer even more than you do, your pain is relative, you'll never be satisfied no matter how great your life is if you don't take take things with philosophy. I'm sure a smart guy such as you should have no trouble finding a girl if he looks in the right place. Perception...

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives; You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehemets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are at peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." It's funny, some see this as a day that glorifies war. I see this play out like a story-almost-of forgiveness, reconciliation, love, loss, anger, sadness and progress. Stories of war run the whole gamut of emotions. Even today, I consider our current situation. Sitting in silence, I listened to two sides of an argument. Each spouting poison beyond reason or rationale that could form any sort of contribution. From their differences came misunderstanding; then fear and finally contempt.

I'm 23, I've been a metalhead since I was 12 and I never gonna change. It's not only music, it's a chosen way of life!!

^I could never listen to a genre or two, I am not the type to stoicly listen to anything on the radio either. No matter how diverse the genre, it eventually gets boring. Don't you ever grow tired of headbanging?
In my teens I was into post-grunge, noise and garage rock but one day opened up to other genres because I understood I was missing out on great stuff, I still enjoy rock but now I have over 40GB of hip hop on iTunes for example, my world has changed, I'm never returning to musical exclusiveness.

Mmmhh, actually I get bored of some bus-genres sometimes... but I listen to other genres as well, ska, reggae... and individual songs I adore from any genre... but I consider myself a metalhead. This saturday was the first time in months I went to a gig... to a bar with a band that plays covers... and I had a lot of fun! I've almost forgotten how fun is to jump and headbangs to those songs... even when some of them I hadn't listen in ages...

Penguin - I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and the tough going you've had as of late..... but it's incredibly stupid of you to think you're at life's bottom rung. There are people out there dealing with far worse and capable of far less than you are. I've seen you in your element before (in Vancouver, on the bow of a boat among other places) and suggest you leave Dodge and plan a trip this summer. Isn't there somewhere you've always dreamed about going? I just posted in Globetrotter about a trip I was planning to Borneo (Kota Kinabalu) this August........ you should join. .... who knows, you might meet some pretty cool people along the way? PS - bonus, because i love you so much, here's a Y2J original:

My time at the UNICEF is finally over, can't believe I won't be back for 6 years at best. I'll definitely miss the genuine people and meaningful work.. now onto wrapping up my 70-page report!
