Played basketball with a Chinese guy who twisted his ankle - I mean really twisted it, his foot was facing backwards. It's the worst sports injury I think I've ever seen, including on tv (though concussions are always scary in a different way). The guy was a real champ though, remained conscious and somewhat lucid until the paramedics arrived. Man, I'm still sick to my stomach thinking about it.
On a completely sports unrelated note, congratulations to fellow EA Brian Ching making the US World Cup squad. While some people are bound to be unhappy with his selection, and the US team will undoubtedly get crushed at some point during the world cup, it's nice to see EAs succeeding at something other than modelling.

Judging from what I've observed in the underground scene thus far, I predict the 2010's will be a noisy musical decade, the end of crossover acts and insouciant indie pop, straight back to dissonant, saturated sounds in rock. Electronica (Asian artists will start to breakthrough in the world scene) will dethrone hip hop as the most popular genre as well as a new major musical style will emerge. Unforeseen trends in the industry will undoubtedly happen but those make the spectacle all the more exciting.

Briefly sneaking to EAN every hour while working is seriously hindering my productivity as well as the depth of my posting, need to find a job that doesn't involve using a laptop..

Sorry "Amanda", if you did actually want to make friends or become lesbian partners. If you look at your signature, your email address is embedded in one of the URL links. Programs routinely visit forums and scrape off email addresses, then send emails like the one you received. You could change your links to tinyURL ones to avoid that in the future. For example, the suspect URL could be changed to: tinyurl.com/rownine-hikarii247

I knew it would eventually happen. A thug tried to mug me on my way home after shopping for a new macbook. Thank god I'm trained so I immediately switched to a muay thai stance, apparently he understood it was gonna be too much trouble so he just left calling me... a racist! I feel kind of stupid for defending my stuff because if he had a gun, it could have turned ugly. You have reasonable chance to disarm an assailant armed with a knife but a gun is unlikely.

So were you carrying your new macbook in the box it came with? I would totally ask for some kind of brandless, opaque plastic/paper bag to put it in. That is unless he was eying you as you came out of the the Apple store or one of those muggers that do it by chance.

Thanks, I was carrying my macbook in a white Apple bag, never again... Unfortunately the same thing happened to a colleague a few months ago, minutes after leaving the Apple store on Fifth Avenue while she was walking down an adjacent street, two guys cornered her, menacingly asked to be handed over the laptop and switftly left. The assault happened so quickly she did not fully understand what was happening until it was too late. I don't think it was a coincidence, it was too professional to be one. Luckily she was unharmed but being stolen a 2500$ pruchase when you are an intern, not a trustfund baby is a bit hard to swallow. The terrible part is that several people witnessed the scene but no one intervened!
Despite growing up in quite dangerous neighborhoods, I never felt as tensed as simply being in the street at night here. I party very frequently in Queens and the Bronx, while me and some friends often run into drug dealers trying to sell us 'meat' is fine regularly attracting aggressive stares from hoods, seeing gangs around is fairly stressful. I've lived in safe places for so long I kind of forgot the habit, I don't mind altercations with arrogant guys in bars, it helps me stay sharp plus it can be exciting but fundamental lack of security is not really bearable.

^Macs have the most flexible audio softwares and I got mine for a steal: 700$ via education store/special rebate. Plus my neighbor is an artist who pimps those with neon lights, stickers and screen-printing.

^ I always wanted neon lights on my gadgets. I am attracted to anything and everything that lights up on the outside. $700 is a steal; so glad the mugger didn't steal your steal.

^He's just jealous Apple users were getting laid while he was fixing his Windows from the load of viruses he got off porn sites. ^ I always wanted neon lights on my gadgets. I love custom gear, that's probably why I subconsciously fantasize about driving a neon-lit rice car à la 2 Fast 2 Furious but in reality I wouldn't be caught dead in these, I'm more of an Audi type.
