(Bump) ^^ Nothing wrong with looking more Asian. People have different perceptions depending on their own experiences/cultural surroundings. Many of us on here have similar experiences in terms of looking more Asian or more non-Asian among different groups of people at different times of our lives. You never know, you may end up looking different as you grow older. Looking Asian and being male in America is definitely a challenge by default. The level of challenge varies from person to person... but it is there. It's like being a few inches shorter than average or being significantly overweight. Not a handicap... but a challenge. But at least in the latter example you would have lots of company here in the US.

I'd like an opinion. I am in Europe and it's the same here as in the US. People ask "Are you Mexican, Filipino" or "Where are you from?" I answer "US" Then they say "But...are you ---then they name a country." BTW, it is not the "Europeans" asking but the Asians, the Arabs, the Persians, etc. The "Europeans" ask because you have an accent and they know I have an American or Anglo accent and the Europeans are very PC. They will say "You look mixed with something" but they leave it at that and don't even ask ethnicity.
To my point: is it just me but do you think it is rude for someone to just name off a country instead of asking "What is your ethnicity?" Once a Palestinian asked if I were Korean. I told him "No" Afterwards he told a client I was Korean. I was livid and said he was a Jewish Israeli. Another time a Turk said I didn't look American so I told him lthat he ooked Greek or Kurd--maybe Armenian.
I just don't understand why people just name off countries instead of letting "you" answer. Also I think it is none of their business. I feel someone should get to know you. Ask the origin of you surname, where you grew up, what you like to eat or cookl your hobbies, that way they can get to know you and maybe figure out who you are culturally rather than judge by what they think.
For example with me, my surname is English, I went to Catholic school, I like ice-cream, dutch apple pie, flan, love mashed potatoes, corn, corn fritters, ribs, fried chicken. I flamenco and belly dance. Never married
Someone who would get to know me could figure English, some Catholic country, southern, flan(hispanic or filipino), maybe Spanish with the flamenco or Middle Eastern with the belly dance.
What do you guys think? I just find it so rude for people to answer an often wrong answer to their own question? Why do people have difficulty letting "you" speak. Also is it cultural because it is not "white" people asking so why are "non-whites" being the tactless ones?
The other think I hate is when I say "No" to whatever country they say and they go "but you look it" or "I usually get countries right" IT's like people want you to change history.
Have a nice day everyone

Hi
Me with questions again.
Has anyone been to Berlin or Germany in general. I am female and had a blast. I felt like a goddess. Men and women were so nice to me; polite, friendly, helpful, smiling. Berlin is my favourite city and I loved the other parts of Germany too.
ON the other hand, non-Germans hate Germany. They say how racists they are. How they felt scorned or stared at.
How were your German experiences?

Hm, I think most caucasians believe I'm full asian, but then I hear from a lot of asians that I look euroasian or "not full asian."

I look mixed, but more on the Asian side a little. White people usually think I'm full Asian, sometimes think I'm hispanic, and sometimes think I'm Native-American (although I guess I am a little but not enough for it to matter). Asian people usually think I'm mixed, sometimes think I'm full Asian, and that's about it.

every time i look in the mirror, it feels like i'm looking at someone else. i don't know how anyone would guess it unless a certain thing happens. sometimes i look asian, sometimes i look white. sometimes i look like something else to other people.
in america, i mostly get Native American. I have very broad shoulders long, dark, straight hair, a big forehead, and a pretty stern expression most of the time. I get mexican pretty often too, typically when i'm talking to someone in spanish.
asians everywhere know exactly what i am, often down to which region of asia my asian parent is from.

i look awesomeeeee nah kidding I think we all look awesome it's amazing how different us Eurasians look. We are so diverse looking and many people are ignorant and don't realize that Eurasians can look like anything. They all assume and stereotype that you should look exactly half-half.
