ew.
simply adding an icon pack and changing the colour of your window frames does not make it look like OS X. That's an insult to our beautiful operating system.
Go buy a mac.

what the?! How did you do all of that custom stuff then? Yes, as Scott mentioned, Window Blinds or , StyleXp. I initially used StyleXp because it is kind of embedded into XP already so is easier to install but it has limited options. Doing a rough search on the general consesus of which is better, most said Window Blinds is more customizable. Many designers have made styles that are very similar to the layouts of other operating systems like Vista and Mac etc. Infacto, look... at my desktop now. cool! thanks merani

Alienware has 4 free desktop themes to download, it offers a extensive makeover for your desktop appearance, sounds, icons, tabs & all - rather than trimming xp features. I'm sure its not Mac compatible.

Go buy a mac. *right clicks* ? we've had contextual right click menus for several years. people who have no clue about the mac platform love to cling onto these tired old jabs (that they read on a "windows skinning" forum) at versions of the OS that are now almost a decade old. It's like me saying "ha ha Windows 3.1 sux!". The reality is that XP is flawed and Vista is a terrible OS. Leapord will set the new standard for consumer OSes for the entire industry. www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/No point trying to convince a bunch of kids who just use whatever their parents buy for them anyway, if we mac users have to educate anyone it's the people buying you these computers. You would all be so much more productive on macs.

I'm sure its not Mac compatible. and we are very glad it's not. mac owners appreciate consistency and beautiful design. Icons are there to create a metaphorical link between vision and action, the whole point of icons as a navigational tool is lost when every user on every different computer makes their "My Computer" icon look different to everyone else's. Oh sure, it's "your computer" so you want to jazz it up. That's the same reason I put stickers all over my BMW, or make "vintage" scratch marks on my rolex, right? The only reason Windows users have these different skins and icon packages is because the default set is aesthetically inadequate and every set that tries to remedy it still misses the mark. Constantly changing my "theme" in Windows is something that simply ended as soon as I started using OS X because the design is such that you are wholly satisfied with the interface straight out of the box. I'm glad of this - you begin to really appreciate good design.

I do use mac's, I use mac's as much as I use pc's - each one has its own function. I dont say "I'm sure its not Mac compatible" as some sought of Windows Bravado or understatement, My PC has none of the customizations discussed here because I dont need it. Im satisfied with my PC and its OS icon and function appearance as it came in its package.
Besides some people like to change their desktop Icon to function Interface themes - because It makes their computer look sleek, more powerful, faster, different, more than it is. If they want the option to customize their xp computer Im showing them whats available. Yes Mac has a nice interface though, but I dont limit myself to staying with one OS simply because im a fan.
