Graduation. Suddenly I find myself neck deep in so much sh*t every moment free that I spend not working on my thesis or a design assignment or a philosophy reading etc I feel as though I am commiting some disgraceful sin. I've never felt that.. in all my years of uni It doesn't help that my Friday, Saturday, Sunday are spent working. No sleep last night and I'm off to work again now. Assignment due tomorrow. Another all nighter for me. Damn this should be in the ranting thread. me me me. whinge whinge whinge. How far away is it? Keep fighting the good fight, man. When it happens, it's SO worth it. Thanks mate November 16 is the day of my final exam. So close, yet so far.

Ahhh, that really is a big day for him!!
Are you packing his lunch for him? Getting him ready in the morning? Make sure he has cool snacks so that the cool kids befriend him. Dunkaroos, Snack-its and fruit rollups always went over well back in my day. Crikey. I feel like it was MY first day of kindergarten 6 months ago.

Maybe I'm getting the name wrong. It's been too long. You know those cheese and cracker packets? They used to come in sets of like 6. You'd get club-like crackers with a little red stick that you use to smear the (undoubtedly-highly-processed-death-in-spread-form) cheese spread on? I used to love those things.
Peanut butter cookies with M&Ms. I'd be his friend. You're a good step-mom. He can definitely use those to bargain with.

I was looking forward to the AFL (Australian Football League) match last night. My favourite team, Port Adelaide, played West Coast (Perth-based team). September is the finals stage of the season, where the top 8 (of 16) teams in the country play off to make the grand final. My team won by 3 points! This meaning that the game was an absolute thriller that went down to the WIRE In the past 4 weeks, 3 of Port's matches have been decided by a mere handful of points, decided with just seconds to go in the match. Definitely not good for the heart as so much stress builds up in anticipation of the result. However, the atmosphere was absolutely off the chain. Now, my team are in the final 4 of the league, and these are exciting times. We last won the premiership (championship) in 2004, and after that there were many retirements and traded players, so we had to rebuild the team by developing youngsters, and so the team is now the third youngest in the league, and performing extremely well! Hopefully I can go to the next match too. Here are a couple of photos after the match: Around 40,000 people attended. A good size considering our state has two teams, the other of which is our rival, and much more popular. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that they are more successful!

^ Wow, I loved the atmosphere at the grounds of AFL games. Going to the games at the MCG when I was living in Melbourne was the best! Bombers vs Pies where the best matches!
I'm looking forward to the Australian games at the rugby world cup. (Anybody else think that the opening ceremony was a bit under done?)

^ Wow, I loved the atmosphere at the grounds of AFL games. Going to the games at the MCG when I was living in Melbourne was the best! Bombers vs Pies where the best matches! I'm looking forward to the Australian games at the rugby world cup. (Anybody else think that the opening ceremony was a bit under done?) Essendon vs Collingwood has an amazing atmosphere, especially on ANZAC day. I must say though, that these are two of my most hated teams in the league! ;D Who do you support in AFL? As for the rugby world cup, I wish I understood the game better, but living in a non-rugby state has made it difficult to follow the game. International rugby looks great to watch, but I've just never got around to developing an understanding of the sport. Thus, unfortunately, I won't be able to appreciate the rugby world cup as much as other Australians will. As for the US open, I'm supporting Djokovic. He is the man to knock off Federer from the #1 spot, and be the next dominant tennis player, potentially for many years to come. He is also a natural all-courter. My favourite player of all-time is Pete Sampras, and so I'd like for him to keep the world record of most grand slams ever won (14). Federer currently has 11, and is 26 years old, so the chances of Sampras retaining the record are slim, unless the next top generation of players (Djokovic, Murray, Monfils, Nadal on harder courts, Gasquet) quickly elevate to match Federer's level. GO DJOKOVIC!

In just over 12 hours, my favourite AFL (Australian Football League) team, Port Adelaide, will be playing for a spot in the GRAND FINAL. (The left picture in my signature, is of my favourite Port Adelaide player, Shaun Burgoyne).
Port Adelaide is playing North Melbourne, in a Preliminary Final at our home ground. The winner of this match will meet Geelong in the grand final next week, who won their Preliminary Final tonight.
I'm going to the game with five friends. To put it simply, I am nervous as sh*t. There will be about 45,000 people there going CRAZY, and if I remember, I'd like to take a couple of photos to share with this site.
This is the biggest match of the season. This will separate the men from the boys. This is what the athletes play for. This is what pre-season training, weekly training, the pre-season tournament, 22 home and away league rounds, and a final series accumulate to.
The chance for a team to earn their spot on the biggest stage in AFL - the grand final, at the MCG, on the last Saturday in September.
GO PORT ADELAIDE

^^ I was a bombers supporter since '92 since I first met Paul Salmon, but lost track of them when I came back to Sydney (which hardly showed any AFL games in the 90s.) Haven't really followed any team recently, still enjoy the bombers, but too many new faces who I have no clue on who they are. Haven't been to any swans games though. I wish your team the best of luck though! Do you think they have a decent chance to beat the Roos tonight?
I have always followed Rugby Union at an international level though no matter which state I was in as my dad followed it as well (being a welshman!) I just dont like Rugby league as much though, doesn't feel like it flows as well as union. I try and head to the international games if I can. I have been looking forward to working nightshifts at work so I can watch any of the games that are on!

^Hope you have a fun time. Good Italian food and great friends, can't go wrong! ----------------------------------- Port Adelaide won by thrashing the Kangaroos, and are into the Grand Final next week, to play Geelong. Despite our comfortable win tonight, it won't mean too much when facing Geelong, who have been head and shoulders the best team in the AFL this season, and so Port Adelaide will go into the match as major underdogs. Having said that, I know Port Adelaide are capable of winning, as we are the only team to beat Geelong in the past four months, which was at their home ground! But of course, Geelong are just a fantastic team, and I imagine it will be even harder to play them this time around. Final score tonight: Port Adelaide - 20.13. 133Kangaroos - 5.16. 46I also took some photos as the game wore on. It was a twilight match, so you can see the sky's colour changing. ^Before the match, which started at 4:00pm. I don't know those people at the front of the shot, most of my friends were to my left. ^Crowd settling down after cheering one of the goals. ^Our section of the crowd, behind one of the goals. ^View of the field as the lights came on. ^I think this image gives a nice view of the crowd capacity of the game.
