I had a boyfriend who was ... incredibly rich. I have a pretty small cash inflow so buying a Gucci watch etc. was out of the question.
For Xmas, I got him a pair of Ralph Lauren plain white boxers which I decorated with a fabric marker - I wrote down things like dates we met, favourite quotes, pictures etc. and I bought him a 'cushtie' in the shape of a dog since he liked using them as pillows and we joked about buying it previously - I also sprayed that in my perfume - give me something handmade over a Tiffany's necklace anyday. Actually..I take that back if it's Tiffany's..

Homemade crafty stuff. I know I'm like a broken record, but the etched drinking glasses are always a hit. Otherwise maybe a personalized t-shirt? A mix CD?

gift certificate for massage or like service - maybe a one-day maid cleaning, or in-house tech support.

I have been told many times I'm the best gift giver. I pay a lot of attention to the little things people like that others wouldn't notice. I also try to put a lot of thought into my gifts and I think most of all that is what is appreciated the most, not the gift it self.
My step sis birthday is coming up this weekend and I'm getting her this t-shirt that has cute little crabs on it and states, "I have crabs!" ahahahaha, she's a cancer and into crabs so I think she will like it. Pretty cheesy but she is into cheesy.

aw thanks guys! i really appreciate your suggestions & i will make very good use of them come christmastime!! my only problem is that the man that we are trying to give this gift to is a friend of the family, but not a particularly close one so we don't know him at all. he is a very successful businessman (i.e., owns homes in korea, japan, switzerland, england, and NYC) and gives us VERY nice gifts (i.e., i've gotten a coach purse and a kate spade clutch from him) and we have nooo idea WHAT to give him!
we usually just end up giving him a bottle or two of wine, which is boring and he has tons of wine anyway. also, the last time we tried to give him champagne, the bottle exploded while my mom was holding it and so instead of going to dinner, we had to go to the hospital so she could get a bunch of stitches all over her legs, so no chapagne either. we ended up getting mickey d's and eating in the ER. it was actually pretty funny (not to my mother of course, she'd beat me silly if she knew i thought that)
anyway, our family is going to stay at his house in switzerland for a week, which is why we need to bring some sort of gift, but i mean...if he can afford 5 houses, he can certainly get whatever the hell else he wants! he likes to sing, but he already has a karaoke machine, and recorded a CD that he likes to give out to his friends. (he's an older Korean gentleman) pretty much, that's all i know about him. and he has a grandson.
sorry for this novel of a post, i'm just at such a loss!

I'm getting her this t-shirt that has cute little crabs on it and states, "I have crabs!" ahahahaha, she's a cancer and into crabs so I think she will like it. Pretty cheesy but she is into cheesy. I'm not sure how well that would go down with "an older korean gentleman" but that idea is positively brilliant. Another good t-shirt idea is one emblazoned with "Crack Whore". And then I saw another cool one that had a map of hungary and a map of turkey with a caption "I'm Hungary for Turkey". YES!!! joy - i don't mean to stereotype this guy but most older korean guys i know are into: 1) hard alcohol; and 2) golf. so you can give him a johnny walker blue label or maybe some monogramed golf balls (Titleist ProV1). I'm sure you can do a million things more creative (as has been suggested above) but just not sure he's the right kinda person to appreciate that kinda stuff. Then again, he might not be able to resist a "crack whore" t-shirt of his own.

What do you mean by everything. Nobody could have everything in the world possible; there wouldn't be enough time to enjoy everything, then. Oh, I guess immorality would then be the gift they might be searching for.
