What was your favourite franchise as a child? Let's say, between the ages of 5 and 12.
I'm not asking about the healthy outdoor activities you enjoyed as a child, I'm strictly asking about the franchises!
For me:
Ninja Turtles was #1 for me. The videogame, the movies, the cartoons, the figurines, clothes, the list goes on and on. Michaelangelo (orange) was my favourite character.
Street Fighter was also #1. The videogame, the figurines, the animated movies. Ryu & Ken were my favourite characters. I reckon there wouldn't be a single person in the universe that could beat me at the videogame, when I was 7-12 years old!
I absolutely loved Goosebumps when I was in primary school too. I collected every single book from each series since they were first introduced, and I still have them today, lying in an old cabinet right here. These books got me interested in reading, and I would often finish an entire book in less than a day, immediately after Mum would buy it. The start of every month was so exciting for me, waiting for the new book to come out!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was also obsessed with NBA basketball cards, and the Chicago Bulls. Nowadays, NBA isn't covered on free-to-air tv, so I'm completely out of touch with the sport. Michael Jordan remains one of my idols however, amongst other legendary athletes. I still have the cards, I'd get so excited if I got a Jordan one. I think I have two or three altogether, they certainly were a rarity.
I also liked Power Rangers for a while. The figurines and the tv series, as well as going to their live show and seeing the movie. The Black Ranger was my favourite. Thinking about it now though, the figurines were ridiculously expensive!
These last two (cards & rangers) I was obsessed with, but only for a few years, where as the first three lasted for my entire childhood.
