Crikey. It's almost time to bust out Jesus and the nativity scene and pop open that elusive first day on that advent calendar. So, as I was just asked by Santa's Delightful Helpers residing in my beloved New York (aka, my parents) for my Christmas Wish List, I though I'd ask you guys. Foregoing any Mariah Carey responses of "you" and expendable things like "peace" and "good will for men" what is the grubby handed, greedy, avaricious child in you longing for this year? A Red Ryder BB Gun? A hula hoop? The world is your oyster. Annnnd if you include something cheap enough, perhaps it'll help out those Secret Santa participants who have fu ckall of a clue! Huzzah for Christmas!

ooh, that picture is mesmerizing!
haven't given much thought to what i want for christmas. ummm.... a nintendo wii would be great, although i may not be around much next year to make good use of it. money/plane tickets would be much appreciated... otherwise i'm happy with books (my sister gets me chuck klosterman books every year and then borrows them when i'm done), clothes, makeup, etc. actually i might have to start asking for dishes and kitchen gadgets since i will be moving out on my own sometime next year and don't have ANY of that stuff. gah.

To finish my project over the holidays so it can have a great 2008. Oh and then $8 million in funding to take it to the next level.
ETA: xandra reminded me, I'm a total sucker for kitchen things. If someone wants to gain my eternal love, they need only buy me a decent kitchen utensil.

otherwise i'm happy with books (my sister gets me chuck klosterman books every year and then borrows them when i'm done), This has to be one of my favorite Chuck quotes: “Sometimes I think children are the worst people alive. And even if they're not - even if some smiling toddler is as pure as Evian - it's only a matter of time ... As far as I can tell, the nicest thing you can say about children is that they haven't done anything terrible yet.” Sometimes I like him and sometimes he's just so pretentious, uppity and a Woody Allen-wannabe. I need to read more. And there's nothing better than getting presents that you want to keep yourself My parents always buy me and my sisters books for xmas... which conveniently enough they always want to read as well. Then they're passed around the house. Makes buying them well worth it though! Ah, I remember the year I asked for a blender and Santa reciprocated. It was kind of a sad day for me. A blender under the tree. I don't know what I was thinking. Aren't you going to be traveling? You should be asking for new backpacking equipment, not spatulas!

good point! i will ask for spatulas for my birthday. ;D
i enjoy chuck klosterman's books, but i think i might hate him in real life. i guess you won't be moving to williamsburg anytime soon, hmm?
eta: is it wrong that i kind of want a mini cupcake pan?

(and my want list above doesnt seem suitable??)

I left the tree up all year long...
Just because I love Christmas so much. Lazyness had nothing to do with it.

Siiiiigh. I miss the smell of xmas trees like none other. *wipes away tear*
I was trying to explain to my students the other day about the gloriousness of the smell of pine trees and they just looked at me aghast. Apparently putting trees made of anything but plastic and fiber optics in the living room is just wrong.
Seriously if someone sends me a glade pine air freshener I'd be ever so grateful.
Helles - I'm so jealous. Rich's family does Christmas like that?!? That's booooootiful.

I ordered 2 textbooks! For funnn. Someone's more than welcome to pay for them. I could also do with a new digital camera. Oh yes. Replace the soles of my leather boots too. And some cashmere pants would a pleasure, in hindsight.

My God Nikki, that is one awsome Christmas decor My parents never had a real life tree, because they don't like dealing with the hassle of setting up the tree or throwing the tree away after Christmas. Instead they went the plastic route ;D The reuse the same tree every year lol. It must smell good in your parents place... That reminds me I have to pick up some pine scented candle/oil ;D I don't know what I want for Christmas. Basically anything I want I just get it myself

^ That's how I'd properly do Christmas, but just so we're all clear my place looks NOTHING like that (sadly). My parents have chosen the plastic route as well, Freecia. We usually just have a massive centerpiece that takes up too much of the table where the turkey ought to be. When I grow up I plan on having a real tree. nikki, yup, they go ALL out.. log fire, real tree, big snuggly rug, decorations, pressies, food, alcohol, more food, more alcohol... very festive. cant wait!!!! (opposite of last christmas at my place! ) oh and my fibre optic 2 ft plastic tree is up but not running, the lights arent flashing.. boo! Nah, your place looked adorable last year!! So festive with all the cards and lights!! But looks like I should have made a trip back to Hong Kong this year (or is this the family back in England?), hmmmm? Sounds like it's the place to crash.
