To each his own. Everyone has their own preference, for some English food is horrid for others it's great. For me personally I don't mind English food I don't rave over it either. As for French food, can't really judge because I haven't really eaten any, although I don't intend to eat snails. Oh and why is French food so expensive considering all you get is 3 beans and a sliver of something else? How do you quench your hunger in a French restaurant without burning a hole in your bank account? I don't mean to offend any French citizens here.

I like the big English breakfast deal, not the up scale with earl grey and fine bone china but the ones you get in cafes. Then there is the tradtional country style food you get in pubs which is in itself rare to find, but when you do, any suggestions of lousy English food are forgotten....for the time being at least!

Hmmm...reminds me of Worcestershire sauce.. chalk and cheese, my dear. HP sauce is thick - think "brown ketchup" and you would be halfway there. You use it in the same way too - to dip things in or dollop into sandwiches etc. Worcestercersershire sauce is much more watery, and is used more sparingly.

well yes, but the taste is "similar" in the broad sense of the word...I know they are different consistencies...although i can't really take woucestshire by itself (ie direclty on things), but integrated into another sauce it can make things more..interesting.

Personally I'm not fond of either. Does that make me some kind of Britain-hating terrorist?

To me english food is beans on toast and sunday morning fry-ups. Fish n chips, roast dinners, Indian curry and kebabs, lovely greasy high cholesterol stuff. (yes, I know the last two aren't strictly british)
Theres some nice food in cornwall, pasties, ice cream...etc, I haven't been there since I was about 7. Everything is fresh produce, creamy, homemade which you don't really get in the city...I would rather have foreign cuisine.

Marmite, you either love it or hate it... or you think its okay. Much better then that fraudulent product Australians know as Vegemite. Me, I can't get enough of that tasty black badness. So it has been said, it is the food of the gods.
Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

Its quite different actually, but that may just be because I have finely tuned taste buds when it comes to yeast/vegetable extract spreads. Dont even get me started on Bovril (tho, I think that's beef).. I just prefer Marmite as I had Marmite-less points throughout my life when I had to have Vegemite as a substitute. I grew up on Marmite, when I was a kid I went through this phase when I ate so much of it that it was coming out of my ears. Very strange experience.
