I'm a huge fan of Worcestershire Sauce Not a big fan myself but try this for a great snack! Thick slice of bread, tuna (mix in mayo or whatever) English chedder cheese, under the grill for a minute then add some drops of the Worcestershire Sauce, back under the grill again then voila! Too much ruins the taste but just right its a great snack!

To each his own. Everyone has their own preference, for some English food is horrid for others it's great. For me personally I don't mind English food I don't rave over it either. As for French food, can't really judge because I haven't really eaten any, although I don't intend to eat snails. Oh and why is French food so expensive considering all you get is 3 beans and a sliver of something else? How do you quench your hunger in a French restaurant without burning a hole in your bank account? I don't mean to offend any French citizens here. mmm snails are goood.. loaded with cheese and this spinachy sauce i think.. very chewy, but soo goood

Definitely great in Oysters Kilpatrick though (oysters, bacon & Worcestershire under the griller). Droooooolllll........

What is picallili sauce ?? I saw it in the British aisle of the market today. I cant seem to find it on google ...maybe I'm spelling it wrong? Mixed pickles in a kinda mustardy thick yellow concentrated sauce. Eaten with salads (or in a sandwich), similar usage as regular pickle. Stocked up on @ Christmas - still there, unopened the following Christmas…

ALL PEOPLE LIVING IN UK:
Do you have a favourite outlet where you buy your favourite UK foods e.g. pastries, trifles, scones, pasties etc/??
i get stuff like greek yoghurt and pancakes from waitrose but go to M&S for things like apples and microwave spotted dick and bread/butter puddings etc. can't get any good cornish pasties up round where i live though

M&S is the best for food, but so shockingly overpriced, I.e. the other day I paid like £6 for a bag of cherries, but I needed them. They do good puddings, and bread, and special occasion foods.
I’m getting into Organic Foods lately, so I’m deviating to speciality shops, for Londoners have you heard of Fresh & Wild? & Planet Organic. There are a few dotted around Notting Hill/ Soho/ Camden/Torrington.
If you want the ‘best’ pastries, I wouldn’t go to a supermarket chain. You have to look for the little independent bakeries. There was a great place in Kingston which I think shut down, they did really good deli sandwiches as well…

Never seen a Fresh and Wild in London, but back in Bristol there is a massive one smack bam on the triangle next to my (old) gym near where I live. Some stuff in there is actually cheaper than in normal supermarkets.
these days I do my shopping anywhere- the nearest (big) supermarket where I live is ASDA and then it's waitrose...(although this is really a "home" store- hardly has any food) and a large-ish tesco metro. Also a M&S simply food on the way home.

M&S packages everything so well and makes it look so appetizing and Asda is SUCH a bargain. I too am a Sainsbury's girl, they sell EVERYTHING!

i prefer to go to the local butchers, grocers and delicatessen. I get bits and bobs from co-op who are suprisingly good for thier fair trade and no-msg products.

Why does everyone like Sainsburys? I can’t bloody stand them. Their whole, lack of competitiveness (price-wise), like they’re in their own league or sth, just because they’ve got Jamie Oliver. Their food isn’t that great either. Seriously, why?
