^ Thanks Mel. I've never really experienced that much racism other than that. I got the occasional "chink" before but I was over that and didn't hear it in a long time and then - this.
Gah. I just try to ignore it

In a way I am envious of all of you that you have a particular culture, may it be White, or Asian to act as a background. For me, I really don't know where I fit in. My parents thought it was a good thing that we kids experience the two cultures equally. Ever since I was little I was traveling in between Taiwan and the U.S., making it very difficult for us kids to pick up either language perfectly. Yes, I speak with little to no accent in both languages but, I am still far from being a fluent, and native speaker of either language. My friends have always tried to help me determine whether U.S. or Taiwan is the more dominant side in me by asking what language do I think in. I never have a good answer because the answer is, that I mix them up! That's probably the biggest reason why I can't perfect either language, which I think is one of the most important key to a culture. I've never really thought about searching for the other root that's been ignored, because it's always been with me. Though because I was raised in a way that was so half and half, it was even harder for me to find out exactly where I fit in.
