There's a chain called "Sushi-Tei" in Manhattan that is essentially fast food Japanese style. Pretty good too. They'll pop a bento in the microwave and then send you on your merry way. Interesting. The sushi-tei in shanghai is very much a sit-down kind of place. pretty expensive even. (and i'm pretty sure it's the same company, as their menu talks about their location in New york)

I just googled it and you're right. I don't know. I've been to two different ones in mid-town and they both seemed to be geared towards business men/women looking for a quick lunch. Although, one of them did just close recently. Maybe it was a branch off from the restaurant, but didn't do too well.
