ok, I'm drinking salted hot water in a bid to make my sore throat better, under the recommendation of my grandma.. it tastes gross.. but if it helps..
its usually asian family who have these random cures so what weird/strange remedies have your relatives/family given you and do they work?
others i've been told are not to eat seafood when you're a bit ill/off, and also pineapple is like 'poison' if you're ill too.

^ i don't know about cold remidies, but for stomach aches my mum makes a cup of tea and adds chopped up ginger. i think that's the jist of it. i'll ask her what she duz exactly another day and post it. it helps though.
i think for colds rubbing tiger balm on your back with a huge coin i think is one of them. i'll have to ask my dad tomorrow.
and what's that thing they do with the cups/glasses on your back and it leaves big bright pink dots on your back. it's never been done to me, but i've seen it being done.

My mum used to make my bro drink hot salty water for cramps. (I don’t think it works and I don’t know the logic behind it, prob just an old wives tale?)
She also used to believe that hot fried stuff or strong citrus fruit would give you nosebleeds, and a glass of milk would counterbalance it.
However I’m all for alternative therapies, cause I hate taking any kind of medication. I’m a slave to herbal teas (green, red bush, jasmine, rooibosh etc), and I take Linseed (Flax seed oil), hemp seed oil and Spirulina supplement every day. Done me no harm cause I’m never sick.
Don’t know what to recommend for colds though. My Polish flatmate makes this deadly combination of hot whiskey + honey + something else*… and curries are good for flu to get you sweating.
Edit: *I think it was hot water w/lemon

Helen, you don't have to actually *drink* the warm salt***er for it to soothe your throat, gargling is much more effective!i always manage to forget about that when i'm sick til someone says,'hey,do this',and then i'm always surprised at how well it works. Does the pineapple thing have to do with the whole 'hot' and 'cold' food theory?it actually makes me feel better, maybe just because it's my favorite.i can never remember what foods are what,i wish i did...i need to incorporate more 'hot' foods, but i seem to only like the 'cold' ones.

1500mg/day of vitamic C is all you need. That actually works really well + drinking lots of water. My (Asian) family make all kinds of soups that taste like pig entrails (then I realise they ARE made of pig's entrails)

I load up on Zinc and Vitamin C lozenges. Drink Green Teas. Take Airbourne or Walbourne..which is the generic Walgreen version.
