Happy New year to all the half Thai's on the board. BTW, I went for dessert to a Thai rest and did let wish him a Happy New YEar and he nearly attempted to pour a carafe of water on me. But it was a joke but the mango and sticky rice was really yummy! ;D (Kat, Tobin, Pepsi, honorary member Marie and all those I have forgotten) ;D

Last I was there it was illegal for women to wear spaghetti straps during the holiday... Some foreign women thought it would be a good idea to wear white without bras and were raped. In which culture is that appropriate? I remember not being able to go anywhere without getting soaked. So much fun! Boys and girls would exchange pats of powder on their cheeks if they found eachother cute. I didn't know you were suppose to only pat and ended up spraying my first few unfortunate prey... with spicy powder too. Those wanting to avoid getting wet usually failed... Most of the time you didn't have much choice especially when they blocked the roads and snagged your helmet off. Of course, guys were more careful with policemen around. The boys could be dragged off at any moment if a girl complained she was touched inappropriately or without consent. Hell, I should have been reported but I think the guy liked it. God, I wish I had pictures. Stopped at a red light today I was looking at a man on a motorcycle and wondered how he would react if I suddenly poured a bucket of water on him. I giggled a bit then was honked at for stalling the green. During my experience of Songran the adults were the biggest culprits and wore the widest smiles. Rare in these surroundings... P- have water balloons prepared for when we meet.
