I'm here in California. But do you seek the knowledge of those that might not be related to you but have been here far longer than your line to seek guidance. Whether it was the Native Americans, Spanish, Mexican, European influence here in California before myself I feel a place with those before myself. For they know the land better and the riches and beauty of the land before modernization in Industrial terms. I can trace about four generations in California that is including myself. I love my country Motherland/Fatherland (takes a lot longer stay) and I love all things related to it.
How about your land are you deeply connected with the land of your birth. Do you know the secrets, the beauty, and history of it whether negative and positive? Do you feel a part of the whole? I am a product of the West/Western United States and love all things related to this.

YEAH! Northern California! WOOHOO!!! *ahem* Not quite sure what your topic is, but I also have an on-and-off interest with California history. I have this sense of pride, not really as an American, but more as a Californian. I feel like California could be a country all by itself. Its history is very multi-ethnic, like you mentioned, it has Native American, Spanish, and Mexican influences. And it also has the largest Asian population out of all the states. Not to mention we have the 5th largest economy in the world (yeah, if California were a nation, it would be #5 ).

Love California way to much also! I was wondering all those people out there throughout the world if they are grounded with roots or not in the land they inhabit how much do they know the history of the past where they exist in the present. Do they know places where a native can just take it eaaaasy and relax as all the rest fight and struggle for place on the land?
Also planning a trip soon to the Farrallons/know as the land of the dead to the Native Ohlones here/ place where their spirits rested at the end of the journey/ supposedly a haunting place. A place inhabited by many varities of whales, many varieties of open ocean birds that cannot be found on the mainland and a part of the red triangle of Great White Breeding areas. I will soon be there! Also planning to go to Medicine Mountain a Sacred Spot near the Oregon Border another Sacred Spot for it's Healing Sacred Waters. Got to get there before Winter Strikes again for it's up there in elevation with Shasta. Hopefully in September or August.

I remember my grandma was telling me about my grandpa once. He came to england in WWII and married her. But he had a strong love for his home (edmonton, ALberta->prairies) and couldn't leave it, so they ended up going back to canada. I feel the same way. It pains me to be away from it. I understand the people and the land and the system there.

I'm Northern Californian from San Francisco. Before everyone started moving into the area (including my migrant ancestors) I take a lot of reverence to the Native Ohlone tribes here in Frisco. One weekend I went to their Sacred Mountain in the East and in a couple of weeks I will be off to their spirit world in the West the Farrallons. A dark island where the spirits inhabit in the End. A Great White Shark Breeding ground and a pretty all around jagged island where I never really have been before. Should be interesting!
