Perhaps would think about having a dog on my plate. Would have to be relative young and tender and some kind of noble breed with not much hair. I would nibble at it a little first than analyze if I want to continue. I just cant get out of my head a homeless dog in another country barfing at my doorstep. Barfing up fish heads, other garbage he scavenged throughout the neighborhood. It was sick and disgusting and made me see how dirty and sad dogs are. But I know that is not always the case.

I didn't know other countries ate dog. Wow, good amo for when people call you a dog/cat eater because you're Chinese. I've always hated that. I don't condem other countries for eating dog, because sometimes there just isn't enough room for cattle. Cattle eat a lot of grass. Every cultures eats some pretty weird stuff. What about the jelly fish? What about Itally eating squid? Some country folk in USA eat squirrel, groundhogs, oppsums.....while in Calif. they're eating bugs. The French are eating those discusting truffles that look like dug up dirt.
As far as me....Please don't tell me if I'm eating Rover or Fluffy. I'd probably puke on the spot with just the thought of it. I try really hard not to think about what I'm eating and keep reminding myself that humans are omnivoires and tigers are carivoires, so it's ok to eat meat. Ok, bring on the ribs! ;D

I intended to vote for the second option but... oops! I voted the third option by mistake, sorry! I will never try dog meat or any kind of foreign meat such as Ostrich because it's an absolutely disgusting alternative

I've tried dog a couple of times.
It seems there is question of animal hierarchy where the animals' biological sophistication and consciousnes /awareness are a factor in what we consider acceptable to eat.
Animals have always and will always be eaten by man. Its a proper moral dilemma as to where to draw the line. I suspect I'd eat human buttock if it was served up on an attractive platter. I've had goats brains before and I wouldn't again.
Its a matter of preference and the moralising is drag, though necessary with us being things with a conscience.

In Mexico dogs aren't eaten since the prehispanic times, and even then it was an animal domesticated just as a cow... it was even hairless, which makes it easer to cook.
Now... there are "urban myths" about dog meat instead of beef in some tacos stands on the streets, but that's another story... it is said that "taquerias pipe" used cat meat for a while and was closed for that... ...anyway, some of those stories are true and the only bad thing about it is the hygiene, 'cause they use street dogs...

I've been a vegetarian since last December and it's really been a lot easier than I expected it to be. The only reason it's taken me this long was that I thought I wouldn't get enough iron without red meat in my diet. So wrong. My doc recommended that I add red wine to my diet! Sold! Haha! Reasons for going vego: 1. The way animals are kept and processed today is cruel. I don't want to be a part of that. It's not that I think eating meat is wrong (though I must admit that I equate it with eating human flesh and when I go to the supermarket, it's not beef and lamb that I see, it's human flesh carved and packaged... euch!) necessarily, I just don't want to add any more demand. Not that the industry will notice one less consumer, but every drop in the bucket counts, right? 2. Health reasons. All the stuff they to do the animals during their life and afterwards. It's not meat you're eating, it's a wad of chemicals and hormones. As for the original question, it's the culture we're raised in. In the west, dogs are pets, companions and held in high esteem for their role in people's lives. In many cases, they're regarded like children. So, yeah, the idea of eating them for dinner is repulsive. Who could eat anything that can make "doe-eyes" like this at you?

It's wrong to eat dogs or cats. Those are animals which are the 2 most popular animals kept as pets widely around the world, to me it's unethical to eat them. As some say dogs are man's best friends, it's not much different from cannibalism.. Any other mammals are still OK to eat. Though I wouldn't eat chimps or dolphins either. Do you know how they kill the dogs before they cook? I have to warn you, if you are a dog lover, it makes you really upset.. No grotesque pictures, but upsetting enough story.. here.

^Yeah. I can't understand how anybody can eat it, but I can't understand even more how anybody can take so much time killing the dog. Pure brutality. Can you imagine your dog being killed by somone that way? The dog would be screaming and begging for help.. Ohh, it's just terrible . I would kill the man in the same way if my dog gets killed . Klacoste, what happened to your UJ-stripe flag? The nation couldn't stand ;D?

an Indonesian friend told me how they would torture the dog before killing it - apparently it made the meat more tender or something. I think that has something to do with adrenaline. If the dog is scared or in pain then it increases something in the bloodstream and that apparently adds to the flavor when the dog becomes meat. Though I didn't hear about that with dogs. They do that to other animals (I think it was cows or pigs).
