Hello all! I am doing a research project for my Sociology class about Eurasians as a social group in America (or around the world). Does anyone have any ideas of where I can find information about Eurasians??? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I also did something in sociology class about Eurasians, but it was more about half-Asians rather than just EAs. Here are some sources I've used... 1. www.asianweek.com/2002_11_01/feature_hapa.htmlThis article is about how Hapas (almost the same thing as Eurasians) are becoming a part of the Asian American population. 2. www.salon.com/april97/tiger970430.htmlThis is about Tiger Woods and how he's sort of a role model for part-Asians (and other mixed-race people) in America. 3. www.tigertales.com/tiger/multi042197.htmlThis one is similar to the one above, except it's more about how Tiger Woods being part-Asian is affecting perceptions of race in America. For your project, I think #1 would be the most helpful. But other than that, EurasianNation is really the most helpful place to find ideas. A lot of the stuff I used in my sociology class was either from this site, or from the US Census (statistics on part-Asian people).

I've read some academic papers on mixed race people, but I don't think any of them dealt with eurasians specifically, so it may be difficult for you to find scholarly sources on eurasians. You might want to broaden your topic, since quite a bit of research that has been done on mixed race/biracial individuals.

What type of social group are you reffering too?
If you mean communities you may like to try researching early colonial inter mixing in:
India (Goa) Malaysia/ Indonesia (including East timor) and Philipines
I have a few stories from my Nan as well regarding treatment of eurasians specifically during Japanese occupation in Malaysia during the war.

I think you need a foundation if the EA definition. Go to Wikipedia. Than study some Eurasian history whether you want to ancient, modern past, Islamic past and present, European Colonialism in Asia, European Colonialism in America, Eastern European, Middle East, Europe, Northern and Central Asia. And than you should look at the modern globalized world that we live in.
Than just hang around here and analize for your project.
