I'm sure that some kind of thread like this already exists, but I don't seem to be digging enough to find it. Doesn't fit into the books thread in the culture forum, either. I currently have this in my amazon shopping cart: (Yes, it's the cheapo version. I'm not splurging $100+ for the fancy one.) Anyway, I need to spend $5.21 more to qualify for free shipping. HALP!

Back in the day when I was a funeral services administration major ( ), I really enjoyed picking up Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. Nice read. You'll be done with it in 2 days.

Chinese Cinderella - Adeline Yen Mah (EAs are totally evil in this book ) Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck Animal Farm - George Orwell They're all tear jerkers. thought you didn't read? Well, in year 7, we were required to submit a book log at the end of each term. Being a less than keen reader, I wouldn't read anything until the night before the log was due. I felt too bad to lie and say that I'd read the books when I hadn't, so I'd scan my bookshelf and read the thinnest books I could find. Two of these thin books included 'Of Mice and Men' and 'Animal Farm'. 'Chinese Cinderella', however, was rather thick (to me, anyway). I read it because we studied it in year 6. As you can see, these books were read five to six years ago. Having read only a few books since then makes it easy to remember and recommend them. If I never read another book again, I'm glad I read those. I still study books at school, but they're more well-known than those studied previously. We read things like 'Othello' and 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. You know, things that have movie adaptations. ;D

You know, until I studied To Kill a Mockingbird in school, I thought that it was called "The Killer Mockingbird". Boy, was I disappointed.
