Sure. My closest relationships are always in that state. 1) variety is nice 2) they tell it to my face/really cause me to rethink my own convictions
It can be frustrating when you're going through moments, but there's a very wide spectrum of thought/learning to be had. I'd like to think the greater the exposure, the more you've been tested, the stronger your convictions, the better your revelations, the more solid the ability to put things in perspective. Then you f*** up. It goes downhill. You pick up, and jostle around again but this time a little like a f***ed up, slightly wiser squashed tapioca pearl floating in a sea of murky global crap.

I have a love/hate relationship with my bf's dog. I "hate" him for when he invades my space and is a mean bully to one of the other dogs at the house(who's a sweet girl dog). I don't feel comfortable eating in the same room with him, because he'd jump up and try snatching it from me, or he'd sit there and stare at me/the food the whole time(until he tries jumping to snatch it out). He's a basset hound, so he's big enough to be able to jump up and snatch it away, unless I'm standing up the whole time. Heck, even if there's nothing edible there, his mind will somehow make him think it is, and he'll jump for it. One time, for example, I'd brought a bag of some of my things for the night, which had nothing edible in it, just some lotion, my glasses, some magazines/newspaper. I turn away and next thing I know, I hear a jerk and turn around to see his head rummaging thru my bag. His curiosity/appetite is something that often gets him into trouble, you'd think he'd learn . One day, my bf's folks had left their house for the weekend and carelessly left a load of chocolate out open on the kitchen table, and not surprisingly, he jumped up on the table and ate all the chocolate. As a result, he was throwing up all day/night from that, and licking/eating his vomit . That night, I happened to bring an extra blanket over, and he jumped up on the bed and threw up on my blanket. Good thing it was just a spare blanket. As for being a bully to one of the other dogs…He'll go yelling viciously at her if she comes to join us. I can always tell when she's entering the room(without having yet seen her come in) when I hear his unusually loud/psychotic barking, my bf always has to hold him back as she's coming in. I "love" him for the times he helped to comfort me when I was upset. One time I'd gone to my bf's place, for example, my pet bird had just died, so I was still pretty depressed and crying over it….I'd gone into another room and in the process broke down crying again, when my bf's dog heard me crying, alerted my bf, and came running into the room to nudge and try to make me feel better. When he's being good to me, I'd feel bad for the times I "hate" him. I also feel bad knowing what he's been through in the past prior to my bf taking him in(his past owners abused him) and how long/hard it took for my bf to tame him again.
