That's why I said knowingly. I'm sure that the man in your example had no idea that he was setting himself up for such a thing. My sentiment above would apply to someone who quits their job, then has no money.

It depends on the context. If its a game of chance or a competition its not taking advantage. You're all know what's at stake.
