I just watched a fascinating reality television show about turning young British whores...I mean ladettes into ladies. The definition of a ladette is a girl who acts like a guy-mainly, being loud, rude, vulgar, drunk a lot, and sleeping with a lot of people. ie. one girl was 21 and had already slept with over a 100 dudes. They all had a lot of attitude and were really boisterous.
Have you had any experience with ladettes? Do they exist in Asia (??), or is it a purely Western thing? (I'm thinking the latter).
I find it doubly fascinating because the typical Aussie male loves girls who are somewhat man-like in certain ways. I know Asian girls who have studied the football results and feign an interest in it so they can actually talk to these people.
Are ladettes victims or taking advantage of 'feminism'? Why do so many men sleep with them-or is that a stupid question? Binge drinking is such a problem in Australia/UK-particularly rising in females that this is a pressing issue. But seriously, I dont think most of the conservative posters on here have actually "dated" ladettes (not seriously anyway), but do you have friends that date them?

Back when I was young a laddette was known as a bush pig or scrub mullet.

Out of curiosity, being Chinese, Scottish and living in London, what do you base your theory on Australian males on?

Are you back in Melbourne elle?
I think the term 'ladette' is a gross understatement of these women. Don't know about you guys, but 'ladette' still conveys a picture of etiquette - I dare say that would be the -ette suffix! but these chickies are definitely bush pigs - though with all honesty, I didn't actually watch the show, just saw the commercial yesterday!
i agree that aussie males like chicks who are somewhat boyish, but I think that they only want it in moderation. A girl who likes watching the footy and playing pool/xbox/surfing/fishing/etc is attractive, but a girl who farts, scratches herself, drinks too much, has 'attitude', etc isn't so desired. Men sleep with the 'ladettes' because they make themselves available. I don't think who men sleep with necessarily dictate what they're looking for in a partner. That's not to say these girls are 'sluts' or anything, provided their promiscuity has come about for healthy reasons and not due to a lack of self esteem. I wouldn't consider myself a ladette but I do share a lot of the same qualities minus the obnoxiousness and misplacement of manners! However, I would never put myself in the same category as the girls on the tv show. They really are an extreme case - or at least, what we're being shown is possibly not an accurate cross section of their true personality. It's all sensationalism just like every other show on tv!!

The first part of this reminded me of Jessica Simpson with her burping minus the sleeping with a lot of men deal...but who knows, really?. I remember this from a camp-fire scene of her reality tv series. Gross! It sort of brings new light into the idea of feminism. I mean, if "feminism" encourages the breakdown of gender inequalities, why not be equal to a man through ill-mannered mannerisms? Ewww.....not! Then again, it can all be a matter of hygiene and respect for others.

No one with an iota of class would find these grotesque creatures attractive. I wouldn't think Ladettes exist in Asia, they seem to have manifested as a result of the Brit binge drinking, hooligan culture. I can't believe this programme found its way to Australia, how embarrassing.
I think guys like "boyish girls" because they aren't as high maintenance as the pretentious footballers wives wannabes that seem to have taken over lately. Also share similar mentalities, therefore provide better companionship and less arguments.
