And Jak that’s not the end of my story. The orientals I was talking about were born and raised in Asia and not in the West. And from what I heard, they didn’t really have a good experience when they first set foot in the States and they didn’t really get along well with Caucasians, like there’s a big cultural gap. (Examples, the police never let go of their traffic mess but the police just looked at me and let go- like when I forgot to turn on my headlights when driving at night. And my friend who used to lived at a Caucasian populated apartment was shocked - when she was drying her laundry and when she took her dried clothes out, she found men’s under garments along with her stuff in the dryer). So that’s the reason why I think they feel insecure, that they have to make a ‘higher than thou” statement. And to think that nobody paid attention to them or helped them the first time they came. I was the one who showed them the ropes because they approached me for help and companionship, probably coz I was one of the few who smiled at them in the office and my face looks approachable. But I don’t think they’re that bad because their ill feelings are product of how bad they were treated. But please don’t pass it on to me coz I was clueless at what's going on. But whatever insecurities they have, they make-up for it in some other ways and I think they like me as a person. So I just let the rotten part of their attitude go and focus on the positive side. Though I still stand by my observations that pure Asians are more racist than Caucasians.
At first, I don’t really look Asians differently from one another and from Filos. But when they started to get insecure and lash out their “higher than thou” statement for no apparent reason at all which is also committed by the ones hiding behind their computer (yes, there are a few insecure ones in EAN), I begin to call them Orientals and I would sometimes lash back and put them at their proper place which is 6 feet under. And I know that the Orientals that started and spread the “higher than thou” statement are from a place populated with the vicious-looking South East Asian Chinese.

Seriously Seriously. Make one trip to the philippines. Step into almost any home and the ppl's hearts shine. The Filipino is worth dying for. I think I've mentioned this to you before Jak. There may be a good chance that your friend hasn't been able to experience the good qualities that Filipinos (mixed or not) offer. Anyone who goes to the Philippines leaves with the realisation that the people there are easily amongst the kindest in the world. I don't know what possessed your friend to talk about the 'hierarchy'. The only place I've heard of that before is on EAN, never in real life. Perhaps your friend's ethnicity is a mix of one that is placed near the top of those 'rankings', and hence your friend just wanted a feeling of self-pride (whilst degrading another person)? Perhaps jealousy may be the cause as well. There are many many mixed and non-mixed Filipinos who have made a successful name for themselves in numerous industries in the Philippines, Asia and Western regions such as Europe and North America, and I think it's fair to say that their ethnicity receives the degree of attention such that people are often aware of it, which may not be the case for other ethnicities particularly in the Western regions - not sure. I don't get the Playstation 'joke'. I think it's best to be left ignored Jak, unless he/she really offended you, and/or things like these are said to you on a more regular basis (as opposed to a once off), in which case you might like to raise the issue with him in a polite manner under the right setting? Then again, if it's no biggie, Rob said it best in responding with humour - 7th are the mixed Laotians! ----------------------- Hi DownInAHole (aka Octavian), Buff, and Roam'n (how could I forget the ladies' man?) Miyuki, from what I've heard, the p****cat dolls have often been questioned about their fashion choices. I'm no expert on women's style, but I guess the group has a specific demographic of fans that the record execs would like the group to appease.

hehe LaFace I usually laugh them off. And you need to hear this; because even some of the southeast asian refugees (and now their kids) who were once temporarily sheltered and trained in the Pines and moved to the western world have the nerve to join the fray and think that their "higher than thou" - the refugees, by golly, the boat people by golly. Where do they get this? From their parent's insecurities and collaborating with the vicious-looking South East Asian Chinese. The reason behind it, their families worse experience of being refugees so now them and their kids will pick on others to feel a bit better about themselves and their family experienced.....Poor them fobs, really. And to think that before the 1500, the native Filipino ancestors never experienced being “fresh-off the boat” because they have their own lands and never moved. In fact, it was the Spaniards and Chinese settlers that were actually the FOBS living in the Philippines at that time, some of them cruel to take the native’s land because of the insecurity of being a “fob”.. And right until 1970's, the Philippine economy was raging bull next to Japan - that your grandparents lived really well and theirs - only trying to pick up the pieces. I think the reason why Filipinos in the Philippines are typically good natured is because they never experienced being Fobs and and when they migrate to the West, they deal well with the Western World. And now you all know why some Oriental "fobs" are insecure and vicious. So the next time you hear their "higher than thou" statement (mostly from the fobs and mixed-fobs living in Western Society) just tell them I'm sorry if you and your relatives are having a rough time in the Western World, I'm sympathetic of your plight

If its a party then Joe Bataan has to be there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xV7TNNQbnkHe even has albums called "Afrofilipino" and "Mestizo"! www.imeem.com/people/9nwqnE/music/oUBZtT6P/joe_bataan_ordinary_guy_afrofilipino/interview with Joe Bataan www.trumix.com/podshows/396951I don't get the whole negative view of Filipinos. I've only really had positive or neutral experiences. I got lots of filipino friends. The Mixed students association I'm part of consists of probably 40% Filipinos and mestizos and I used to play in a Filipino Basketball league. Maybe its no coincidence my name is Philippe. EA friend of mine was going out with my Filipino friend. I remember her telling me how her mom, who is chinese, would nag her about going out with a filipino. Another chinese friend of mine who was a leader at a filipino youth group, had a filipino GF and lived with a filipino family for a few years gets irritated when people think he's filipino. HAHa actually I think its funny. ^I once was ranted to by a particularly tactless drunk friend that there is a unspoken heirarchy of mixed asians - it went something like this: 1. Half Japanese, Korean 2. Half Chinese 3. Half Cambodian, Laotian, Vietnamese etc. 4. Half Half Thai, Indo, Malay etc. 5. Half Anything Else 6. Half Filo What do you guys think?! Do Filos really have such a low standing amongst the other asian nations or is this as bullsh*t as my friend is? Unfortunately I've heard of these rankings before. If you're dealing with some ignoramus, then tell him/her that he forgot about the half Laotians and they're #7 which means we're not at the bottom. FIFTH RUNNER UP BABY!!!! Or baby him, "thats a nice little chart there, you come up with it all by yourself. You deserve a sticker."

Do Filos really have such a low standing amongst the other asian nations or is this as bullsh*t as my friend is? I must admit that at uni in the U.S., I never really had great camaraderie with other Asians and felt looked down upon. As I've related in some other thread, one Japanese exchange student even told me that he thought Filipinas were great dancers in Japan (i.e. Japayukis). Because of this, I always had Latinos as my closest friends cos of the similarity in culture, religion, language, etc. Ironically, the students I mentor now are non-Filipino Asians. I just think it has something to do with the Philippines being an economic laggard in the rest of East Asia. That being said, I am and will always be proud of my heritage and my people wherever in the world I may be. Oh and the food too!!! Lol.

Nah, he's totally caucasian. He has blue eyes and used to have blonde hair. He's from a little country bumpkin town of 200 people. I think my mom was the first asian woman he ever even met. Maybe he's been around us too long and we rubbed off on him.

Another thing I loved about the philippines: Super lame variety shows where the grand prize winner makes off with like $3 in gift certificates. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bx4QJaFgWkComing from the first world, it's both funny and sad. And each time I go back, its increasingly frustrating
