^Man, my keyboard's acting weird. I wrote this long response and then my f***ing keyboard went haywire again and ruined it. Anyway, to keep this thread on topic, I think if either of us wants to make an abortion thread, we should do that and not take this thread too off-topic, since it's only just started. @long: I doubt it...but can't be sure. I think I remember bitching at him about that topic though. Don't know for sure.

No Abortion, No Execution, No War. I simply can't come to grips with just championing one or two of them. So would you date a pro-choicer, a capital punish-er , or a neo-con?

I don't really want to make an abortion thread either.. I mean, I'm really serious about the whole not wanting to debate anything. But just to answer his question, of course, I'd date a pro-choice person. And have. It has no effect on me. It's not like pro-choice people are necessarily out there destroying the world. They simply have a difference of opinion on the idea of "choice"... And it's not even reflective of what choice they would make for themselves either. I'd tolerate a supporter of capital punishment, but would eventually clash with them on it... No neo-cons, sorry. Like I said in my first post, I'm not into anyone who's a strict follower of any one ideology/thing. Y'know, mix it up a little? Don't be such a party-line-towing robot. I wouldn't care for a strict, bleeding heart liberal either. So boring! [edit] Oh wait, you're equating neo-cons with warmongers (which they are). So to answer your question, of course not... On a sidenote, I've said elsewhere that war can have therapeutic effects on civilization (in the sense that it makes people not want to see it again), but it's nothing I take any comfort in per se. It'd more desirable if people simply woke up before anything happens. And I don't care to associate with anyone who can't see that.

I'm serious about it too, but debating about it's draining...especially since every thread I've made on it has always been closed, on this forum and on others, which is entirely irritating.

Most Catholics have pre-marital sex, are pro-choice, use all sort of birth control along with the rhythm method, and don't go to church on Sundays. I believe it depends on which country you are talking about. In Australia, USA, Canada and Britain, I would agree.

^Ethel, you seem to be irritated by the observation that I wrote. Of course, I could be wrong.
Are you suggesting that the difference between a Catholic by name and a 'devout' Catholic, is following the ideals of the religion 100%, as opposed to 0%?
Do you disagree that the proportion of people in a country's Catholic population that largely follow the ideals of the religion, can significantly differ between countries?
----------
On a side note (not talking about the OP with regards to relationships):
I find it perplexing when people intelligently (whilst respectfully) discuss religion, whether they are for it or against it, that some people on both sides of the argument can become so quickly aggravated, because they have a pre-formed judgement that they abide by so strictly. It's almost as if they dismiss any idea that goes against their own, without genuinely recognising it.
I think people need to take more breaths.

yeah, i had to learn that the hard way (taking deep breaths, i mean)... i found a role model of a cool headed, open-minded, as well inclusive religious man though (martin luther king jr.), and ever since then, i keep in mind of how'd like to be with the subject. not bigoted, not close-minded, not shunning of other's beliefs, and yet, still maintaining his own thing, and still championing some things deepest to his heart.. [edit] speaking of religion, i'm 9 posts away from becoming a deity
