Mutual Fund Accountant... using as stepping stone while I study for my CFA which stands for Certified F*#king A$$hole. I want to get away from accounting and into investment analysis eventually. Fingers crossed.
I also have started an unsuccessful website. see below. haha, actually I'm just doing that for kicks.
My jobs started when I was early teen. soccer referee, wendy's, zellers department store, etc. Did lots of bitch work at TD Bank in University... ie// call/hell centre and back office stuff. Last job was at Manulife dealing with brokers/pension plan trustees/jerks. It sucked!!

A lot of people seemed to get into Risk Arbitration after the easy money had already been made. Worse, 99% of people that claim to do Risk Arb (especially on the internet) don't actually do it. The worst culprits are i-bank aspirants or analyst monkeys who trade stories about work they don't do. A summer intern that rotated onto my desk (for 3 weeks) calls himself a "Prop Trader" on his facebook profile. Or I should say he "called" himself a prop trader. He's toast now. What topic did you cover as a lecturer? Just some engineering stuff Rob, half of those jobs seem entirely cool. Demolitian Man? Wedding emcee? Working in comic shop? Waterski instructor? However, so far "Chicken for Hire" is probably the most degrading job I've seen posted here - probably not the crappiest, but certainly the most degrading. What were you doing, handing out flyers for a fried chicken restaurant? All that said, being a mascot for a sports team might actually be fun. I actually don't find these jobs degrading in the least. They're honest professions, many involve a real/tangible service/product (vs the esoteric crap I deal with in my day jobs) and I admire many of the people who do them full-time. Yes, the chicken gig was ad related..... carried a billboard advertising a 9 piece special for $13.99. Then everyone goes in the restaurant and orders the special. Server says "it's only dark meat" and then you get all these snide comments from ppl after .... "dude, you should have told me it was all dark meat" as if I was supposed to personally inform every passerby (in some muffled mascot voice) of all the caveats and quid pro quos. Doing the chicken *used* to be degrading... only b/c these punk ass teenagers would come over in hordes and harass you (same goes for sports mascots!). Chickens (even the mascots at Disneyland) nowadays all have handlers. pussies but yeah, they're all cool jobs. I think it was Bono who said you gotta kiss the ground before you can touch the sky. Marina jockey is the best because you get lots of gas fumes (who doesn't love that?!) and you get invited to everyone's houseboat parties. ;D Keep all the crap jobs coming!!

I'm still in high-school, but I work in my fathers company in the customer support for France. Taking orders, answering questions, dealing with clients in general. I growed up in his company and it's great that I can support my dad and get even paid for that

I work in an operations control office for a major airline. Basically, I cancel flights and decide if your flight is going to wait for you if your connection flight inbound is delayed. Yes, I take bribes. ;D
-First job, delivering the Richmond Review newspaper, which I ended up dumping in a dumpster a couple of times. Great work ethic!
-Started working at DQ at 13. Favourite treat to make: Peanut Buster Parfait.
-Summers at the PNE (fairgrounds). Great boy watching.
-Waitress at various Japanese restaurants. Terrible stingy bosses most of the time.
-A bunch of other crap jobs.
-Then, got in at the airline after Uni.
Dream Job: Designing stationary, websites, etc. or full time musician.

Honestly though, this sounds like me. I don't even care to talk about jobs here because most people seem like well-to-do achievers, or well educated. It's embarrassing. Why even worry about it? Someone (like me) is always grousing about what other people are doing or having. I'll always be thinking I should or could have achieved more. For me, finding out what makes me happy is the hardest thing ever. If you have that, then you are golden, no matter whatever else. ------------------------ But in keeping with the spirit of the thread, I am an audio technician and systems admin for an audio post production studio. Previously, I was an audio engineer at USC -- technical engineer, not a studio engineer. And also worked at the library, cataloging new acquisitions. Before then, I had a short stint with Sacramento County voter registration doing data entry (voter reg cards). And before that, I worked for Pacific Bell as a customer service rep (you dial 611 and you got me and bitched at me). Had other odd jobs as a telemarketer (ugh), data entry for a telemarketer (less ugh, but still ugh), and a janitor (right around high school). Sounds like a very cool job!

I have to say my brother probably takes the cake for the most crap jobs ever - donut store (Tim Horton's), Subway, dishwasher, night security watchman, tree planter, flyer delivery, telemarketer, landscaping, etc. Just a who's who of the crappiest joe jobs around. I bet I could own your brother in the "crappy" job department. Here's my resume: - Warehouse monkey - Demolition man - Marina gas jockey - Farm labourer (supervising migrant workers and u-pick) - McDonalds (became a manager there) - Produce store clerk - Bike safety instructor - Waterski instructor - Wedding emcee (not really a job i guess) - Piano and music theory teacher - Countless newspaper routes. The worst was having to collect $1 from each subscriber every month. - University lecturer - Lifeguard - Carnival games attendant - Chicken for hire (as in wearing a Chicken costume on busy street corners) - Comic book vendor - Babysitter - Youth group leader Very recently (as in within the past 12 months), I've worked as a postman for Canada Post and a security guard for a local shopping mall. I've registered again for postal service this summer (you meet great people!) and got a gig working for a frozen yogurt chain. I'm also going to do some "consulting" work for McDonalds as my friend manages a bunch of outlets. If I were living in some African republic, I bet i could have like 8 wives now. Rob, I've always thought being a carnival games attendant would be one of the worst jobs possible. Is it the worst on your list? U pick might be tough too; all the bending down.

-First job, delivering the Richmond Review newspaper, which I ended up dumping in a dumpster a couple of times. I did the review as well. You *do* know we grew up 2 minutes from each other right? Weren't you in the "monds"? More then just neighbours, we could be soulmates .... Tater-tots/mexi-fries need hot sauce tho.... like the kind they serve at Taco Don ..... made from "xanthan gum" and all sorts of other natural/organic ingredients Rob, I've always thought being a carnival games attendant would be one of the worst jobs possible. Is it the worst on your list? U pick might be tough too; all the bending down. Carnival gig was pretty awesome.... tho I was one of the worst attendants (gave away extra tries to friends and nice girls) ... if I were half decent, I'd have gone for the big show (where you were!) at the PNE. U-pick isn't half bad because the customers do most of the picking... it does have its headaches though.... alot of chinese people never stay in their lane I assign them ... most scarf down loads of berries while they're out in the field... and some even have the nerve to negotiate the price. grrr Toughest job was demolition. It was $7/hr (slave wages), dangerous (almost got hit by falling debris), difficult (e.g., stripping carpet by hand) and most of the guys I worked with were drug addicts that would just totally slack off and bail the second they got their paycheque. Did you work at the DQ at No1 and Steveston Hwy? Been riding my bike there since I was a kid and would just stare into those posters on the wall (a world made of candy and ice cream!) and just dream ;D. You had my dream job! And i heard you DQ guys (like at KFC) got free food!!

TMI! ;D It was a fun job aside from having to be stingy with the napkins because the owners were cheap. I'm surprised that demoing was the worst. I figured breaking things and getting paid would be a pretty sweet gig! U-pick. Duh. U pick yourself, and the person employed there does not. Whoops. Yeah, I guess there wasn't a lot of bending down.

Our job experiences really run the gamut, don't they? But I think Rob takes the cake with the chicken job! So, I do marketing and PR for an online store. It's a fun job, my coworkers are all around the same age (we average at about 25), and my years of wasting time on the internet actually amount to something in my work! It's a small business that's growing fast, so it's really awesome to be part of something as it's taking off. Previous jobs: - Delivering flyers (what a rip-off, remember getting cheques for $9 and I always dreaded Saturday mornings) - Babysitting - Team Co-ordinator at McDonald's (trained employees and supposedly supported management team) - Receptionist/"beauty consultant" at a swanky hair salon (ie. I did makeup touch ups and a few full blown makeup applications - those were very, very nerve wracking!) - Retail whore at various clothing stores - Administrative Assistant for a non-profit org - Sales and admin assistant for an advertorial company, and then Media Monitor the following summer - Worked that University library, checked out books and laptops - Research assistant for a professor who was working on a book about obesity from a sociological perspective. The book still hasn't been published.

I'm a full-time student working part-time at an airport. I've been employed for a year and eight months. This is my first job... With the money I earn, I pay for books, some of my mom's bills every now and then, food and water, gas and other stuff. I save about half of my earnings every month just because. Not that anyone needed to know this. I'd like to work as waitress one of these days. For the tips.

My cuz works for Air Canada and she gets dirt cheap flights... next to nothing. She'll travel somewhere abroad just for a weekend.
