Think affirmative action is giving preferential treatment to minorities (i.e. of racial background or sex) in employment and other things?
Im not 100% sure of the definition though - but sounds like it, especially if in a field where the minority (ppl of a certain sex/racial background) are not deemed to be sufficently present.
If im not mistaken there is a big debate about its apparent benefits.

Yeah I know if you are good looking it's easy to get away and move up in the world but do you think people are confusing what they might think negativity toward their race is in fact not that but maybe because they are just not consider attractive to whom ever? Maybe using race as a excuse is a easy cop out in booth parties? Some of us have it doubly bad and are unattractive and of the wrong race Ouch!

Oh no, I didn't want this thread to turn negative and make people feel bad You guys are great and in no way ugly, your posts come off with a lot of personality and insight more then I can say compare to people I have met that are great looking but vacant, what a bore. Hugs!!! Sorry people make you feel that way Everybody is pretty and ugly, we all have different perspective to what we find attractive. I know there are some out there that think I'm ugly just because that is their taste. I just wonder if it's all due to race or just their taste or is it a combo together, maybe race and beauty is getting all tied up and confused and people are mistaking one for the other.... I have no idea where my mind is going with this

Well TS, why didn't you marry an 'ugy' (by your standards) guy over your husband?

I have no idea where my mind is going with this I said "ouch" as a joke. I've always tried to abide by Exupery's saying in the "Petit Prince", "The essentials of this world are invisible to the eye." If people like me, then that's good. If not, then that's too bad. It's more their loss than mine.

Hey then how did this guy end up with it all??? J/K Yeah I know if you are good looking it's easy to get away and move up in the world but do you think people are confusing what they might think negativity toward their race is in fact not that but maybe because they are just not consider attractive to whom ever? Maybe using race as a excuse is a easy cop out in booth parties? Example: On EAN the non EAN males are looked at and commented harshly is it because they are non EAN or because they are not attractive or assumed to be not attractive? If a hot non EAN was on here would he get the same treatment or different? Personally for me let's say Johnny Deep came on EAN and was telling whom ever she's hot because she's EA or whatever, etc how would it be taken? I know for me if it was Mr. Deep I would be just as disappointed he said those things and not consider him attractive anymore and my fantasies RUINED 1. you just called all the nonEA guys on here ugly. 2. You're right, it's not race, it's how attractive people are. Blacks get harsher sentences than white men because they are ugly. 3. How many more superficial threads can EAN take?

Oh duh I don't know much web lingo I didn't go on dates with guys based on their looks that's for sure. I dated a Armani model once years, years ago and he was gorgeous but after the first date I was no longer attracted to him and found him kinda ugly since he had nothing going for him but his looks. So I just started to date a lot of guys that fit me well, humor, smarts and overall a really nice guy to me I find really attractive while others might think physically he is not in my eyes makes me melt and in the end I am the one with him not them. So I find my husband very attractive not just by his looks but everything else about him. I'm sure there are other people out there that don't look at him the same way as I do, vice versa. In the past I have had many friends comment to me why I was dating this guy or this guy because I could do so much better, (terms of looks) that made me upset that they thought whomever I was dating was not worth my time due to their looks when I was having a great time going out with them and enjoyed their company most.

I have no idea where you got that from, maybe you need to stop reading posts with a pre mind set with what you want to see. Maybe you view everything so negative because you are a negative person. I never said EAN guys were ugly, where the hell did you get that??? My question was do people really judge others base on race or is it really looks not race and if they are confusing race issues as looks in ugly or not, etc. Maybe people don't take a like to someone because they simply just think you are not attractive and pre judge on that and maybe when some encounter this they chalk it up to race, them being black, white, asian mix whatever when in reality it has nothing to with race.
