I had a interesting conversation with a friend's friend. Apparently he was born in Hong Kong and pretty much grew up and lived in between Hong Kong and Taiwan but he is white. His parents are from German but his dad as well was born in Hong Kong and lived, etc his great grandfather moved to Hong Kong to establish a company, etc. So english and german is his 2nd and 3rd language and he struggles with it but his first language is canto and mandarin. He knows very little about german culture and when he did visit germany to him that was a foreign country not Hong Kong. So he was telling me about the issues he had with the, "white devil man" in asian countries and still today has not so much to do with him being white but that he feels is because he is slightly over weight and not as good looking white male. He told me when he was in Uni in the U.S and took a Asian American history course the class was mainly just asians but he took the class because he really wanted to learn about asian american history not there for the chicks. He was treated like scum because they all thought he was a perv and a wannabe asian when in reality he was as much asian as they were minus the genetic part. But when a new student came in he was white but very attractive and clearly there for the asian ladies. The asian guys and girls right away were friendly and hung out with the attractive white male. Now is the negativity he encountered over time all due to race or if it really just because he wasn't a handsome man... hmmm.... He is a very social, overall nice guy and fun to talk to so he doesn't have personality issues. Hmmmm....

Maybe to do with first impressions?
Good looking people may provide better first impressions due to increased aesthetic value?
Just the same though, there are many people who find good looking people very intimidating and thus usually feel more comfortable around more normal looking ppl?
Might work both ways!

Hey then how did this guy end up with it all??? J/K Yeah I know if you are good looking it's easy to get away and move up in the world but do you think people are confusing what they might think negativity toward their race is in fact not that but maybe because they are just not consider attractive to whom ever? Maybe using race as a excuse is a easy cop out in booth parties? Example: On EAN the non EAN males are looked at and commented harshly is it because they are non EAN or because they are not attractive or assumed to be not attractive? If a hot non EAN was on here would he get the same treatment or different? Personally for me let's say Johnny Deep came on EAN and was telling whom ever she's hot because she's EA or whatever, etc how would it be taken? I know for me if it was Mr. Deep I would be just as disappointed he said those things and not consider him attractive anymore and my fantasies RUINED

I tend to think that I am ugly too. It seems that random people tend to have grudges against me when I've done nothing wrong.

How often do we see pretty or sexy secretaries in real life or fictions? It's like an unwritten rule that secretaries must be young and phsically attractive in the corporate world. And more often than not, she also has to be white in a white-dominated multi-etnic and multi-cultural society, such as, yep, you guessed it - USA . Their bosses, however, can be fat, fugly, old white male old enough to be their dads or gramps . Uh, few of them even become their sugardaddys .

Well, money and charisma always override looks.

I've been an administrative assistant in the past and when I was weeding out prospective replacements for my position one of my bosses told me he didn't want a male in the position so I just had to weed out their resumes.

Uh, few of them even become their sugardaddys . ^That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza was interviewing women for a secretarial position. He was rejecting all of the beautiful women, telling them he would be unable to function because he was sexually attracted to them. He ended up choosing the woman he considered most unattractive, yet was highly skilled at her job. Turned out that she did such a damn good job of it, George ended up attracted to her anyway, and they ended up having sex in the office LOL

^^ For every EA who gets the best of both worlds, there are those who get the worst of both worlds, or the mediocre elements of both worlds.

In Germany women w/ the same qualifications have to be favoured over man applying for a position (erm or was this in men-dominated fields only? ) Is that a form of Affirmative Action?
